Gabbys come back quick then!
Why the changes in presenters tonight, with Jim Rosenthal on ITV2, replacing Matt Smith who hosts tonights highlights, replacing Angus Scott who hosted F1 at the weekend, replacing Jim Rosenthal - who hosted the boxing on Saturday.
Just a note that ITV / Sky have secured a new three year deal with the same arrangement as now, plus their games on the internet. The deal also covers broadcast of the Scottish teams on STV/Grampian.

"Champions Tuesday": Just doesn't work for me.
Return of Grim: I'll admit that Grim is a good presenter but he's not great.

Like always, ITV has introduced innovative changes to its football coverage with futuristic sound effects, a 10/10 scorecard, a swish "Champions Tuesday" name and the return of Jim Rosenthal to host over on ITV2.
As ever, ITV Sport continues to lead the way!

Can't argue about Jim but the rest being innovative? Flashy sounds that are unnecessary and quickly irritate, a scorecard better suited to tomorrow's papers (there's far better ways to lead in to analysis of how players have done), some gimmicky name and pointlessly sticking the two pundits touchline with Gabby on her own unless she's doing a 2-way with them? No thanks! It's like Andy Townsend's 'Tatics Truck' all over again...

I thought it was truly excellent. It was good to see Jim presenting something other than Formula 1 all the time and the presentation changes made the football all the more watcheable. Much better than BBC!

That's got to be the most annoying part of the broadcast, why couldn't Gabby ask the questions, it's just makes her look like she is linking the thing together rather then being a proper anchor, really the presentation was truely pathetic, Sky Sports on the other hand, top class!

The first thing that came into my mind was Premiere Sport, because that's exactly how they present, but more professional of course, the Ally/Andy show looked silly with Gabby doing links in her throne like position, it was bizarre!

Having pundits on the touchline is similar to what i've seen German broadcasters do, including the glass screen.

Silly gimmickry.
As for the new deal, it still means that - unless you have access to Sky Sports - you don't get the full story on each set of matches, with no coverage on ITV whatsoever on Wednesday nights, apart from the Final.
Surely the sensible thing would have been for ITV to have highlights - even for half-an-hour - on Wednesday nights and Sky to have highlights - of whatever length - of the games ITV showed live (plus its own live games of course) on Tuesday.

That be the sensible thing, but I think it's more to do with UEFA than ITV / Sky.
On the other hand it wouldn't be so bad if Sky had exclusive rights to Tuesdays with the ITV matches shown on Wednesday so the highlights on Wednesday night could also include the goals from Tuesday.
I think ITV show the goals in their Champions League Weekly programme though - about a week later. Now On the Ball has gone, it wouldn't be a bad idea to move this back to Saturday afternoons.
