Just bring back the Central Cake, Yorkshire Chevron, let viewers know there are a company part of the ITV network, reduce their soap offerings from five to three days a week, produce sitcoms and drama series and that dosen't mean conrinuing shows like Heartbeat which I am sure is in the late 70's era.

But of course they've closed half their studios now, i'm afraid ITV1 is a goner! Crying or Very sad

Maybe a celebrity linking with a real person, connecting with the programme and the people who watch.

They need to ditch their trashy image they have at the moment, using celebrities isn't the answer, they've tried it and failed miserably. It will take more then a fancy revamp to change ITV1's fortune, they did to bring back quality programming and not rely so heavily on soaps!

Other than pig headed stubborness there is no reason that they can't replace the ITV ident with regional identities. It is technically possible and since they already own the copyright to the names and imagery a rebrand would not be that expensive. Most of the money on re-branding goes on self important luvvies sat in numerous meetings deciding what colour and shape something should be. This is usually based on results from focus groups.
Most of the research has been showing that ITV as a brand is considered tainted with a much better response from the regional companies which were considered as 'trusted'.
It is a question of whether someone has the guts to do something about it.

It didn't though - ITV1 had a much stronger identity during the celeb era than it does now. The mistake was ditching the 4 square motif which in a short time had become a very recognisable - and flexible - brand for the channel.

Was never a huge fan of the four 4 square/blocks thing. I think it was good they ditched it. The current ITV1 logo is fine they just need better idents!

They say that it was specially comissioned and they hope that their new square shaped screen will over take widescreen HDTV.
"Widescreen HDTV needs a competitor, and we have it in the form of Square TV. Scientists may say it is not sqaure but it is as accurate as possible. The (453x389) resolution may be lower than HDTV but are questionnaire on selected babi... ahem people say that they prefer the lower resolution and they say it is essential for good programming."
Our opinion on the idents - totally rubbish.

But does ITV need 14 studios now a day? There could easily get way with 7 or 8 studios now a days

Look at the STV ones there much better that the current itv1 offerings, simple people doing normal jobs, and doing activates!

but as everyone is saying ITV need much more that just fancy yellow ITV1 logos to win back viewers,

Paul O’Grady is right: it full of rubbish
