The new girl sounds very nice. Never really noticed her when she was on BBC ONE.

Infact, they are all sounding better.... I just think Scottish Paul has been working too much recently. He must be exhausted.

Ha! Not noticed her - she was the one that was always talking about her cat on Neighbours V/O's or mentioning odd things into Eastenders!
Was she not also the one that had that CBBC Breakdown on friday! Must have been one of her last shifts with the Beeb, what a way to go eh?

To be honest, I rarely watch BBC - normally ITV, CH4, FIVE or SKY ONE.

It looks like she's doing prime time tonight on ITV1, so if you haven't heard her on ITV1 yet you can tonight. Excluding 7.30pm's junction of course

I'm not sure I'm keen on her. I wish they'd inject more personality into the anno's on ITV1. They've done it a few times, but the occasions are so few and far between.

I have to disagree, I think her and Scottish Paul (who followd her tonight) sound good together.

I do remember her voice from BBC ONE ...

I also think there is quite a bit of personality from them now... but I still miss Glen and Trish! Crying or Very sad

Glen was on the daytime shift today with his deep voice.

And to be predictable, I miss the "all the northern team, Helen, Neil, Maggie and Bob and all the past Yorkshire tv announcers since 1968"

I too miss all the Granada TV announcers since 1956. But bring back our faves like Colin, Charles and the rest of the gang.

Though the ITV1 announcements aren't as good as they were, I think the people who announce on Five seem to have more enthusiasm!

Bob Preedy had more enthusiasm! In his understated way of course

In this modern age, is it not about time that the BBC and ITV sacked all their announcers and replaced them with computer generated voice announcements. The savings would be considerable, and I am sure that stockholders of Granalton would endorse such a move.

And when the technology is up to it, they could do the same with the newsreaders.

Viewers would never notice the difference!

I heard the new voice on the team last night (end credits The Bill) and rather than share some information it was a spontaneous audition for promotions voice over work. Sounded fine, but wasn't a person it was a VOICE.

If the continuity announcers are achieving the goals set by ITV1why should they change? More personality would be very effective as ITV1 is selling something namely the idea of watching television. People buy people so right at the "point of sale" there needs to be a person viewers will believe and buy from.
