ITV1 Christmas Presentation: ITV1 Christmas Ident captures on Page 4!

Today (11th December 2004) has been the first day that ITV1 has aired it's branding for this year's festive season.

The promotions are mainly deep blue with some white and yellow! (what a change!!!) Also the four squares now take on the characters of a star, a triangle, a moon shape and a square!

The end caption looks very similar with the characters swinging on the curvey lines!

Just from looking at the promotions makes me think that there will indeed be NEW ITV1 Christmas idents this year. I dont think they will ever be able to 'top' last years generic Christmas ident though!

You can barely see the characters on the end caption on a 4:3 screen. I'm about to get a widescreen TV, though, so I'll be able to see them in all their animated glory soon...

I think there is one major question here: Are we going to get a nice set of idents to go with this, or are we going to have a 2002-style situation where we have lovely promos but crappy idents?

Of course the blue/yellow boxes mean nothing in UTV terms, so if the Christmas idents are based on those it'll be interesting to see what comes out of Havelock House...

What you read as: "Thank god I'm about to get a widescreen TV because otherwise I won't be able to see the pretty characters on the ITV1 Christmas promo!!!!"

I meant as: "It's a shame that I can't see the characters on the ITV1 Christmas promo, but by coincidence, I'm getting a widescreen TV soon, after which point I will be able to see them."

So there. (Okay, I DID word it very poorly...)

Anyway, back on topic, can anyone who's seen the UTV snowflakes promo say whether or not the UTV design bares any resemblance to the ITV1 one?

I notice Christmas is sponsored by Rennie chews again!!!

I'm imagining the idents, if we get them, will feature these shapes, then zoom in on the falling yellow / blue squares in the background to create the logo.

Although knowing ITV1, it could just be the current idents with the characters cropping up in the corner!

That's very kind of them - Christmas in general is such an expensive operation

SMG used the Christmas promos I think for the first time in the commercial break before The X Factor. Left pretty much as it was, includng the yellow square.

Incidentally the ident into The X Factor results was Katie Derham, and into Christmas Mania was Trisha!

I like the breakbumper style opening, cant wait to see the idents now. So far Christmas pres on ITV1 is looking promising, very unusual.

I really like the Break Bumper, and like the whole idea of placing the blue and yellow squares as characters.

Just frightened to see what UTV will throw out on screen this christmas
