Never understood the silly opt outs, think ITV should ask Ofcom if they can scrap them and start their regional news services earlier instead at 17:45 until 18:30 imo (with Ofcom insisting they try and cover the whole of their regions!!!). There can't be much if any difference in what it would cost. That way everyone's regional programme would be live and it would start before the BBC's News hour starts...hence giving ITV an advantage.

Just thought I'd put my two pence out there... Idea

Not that it would matter much to me, as I'm not home in time for ITV local news, plus I prefer the Beeb, but that is a good idea.

I'm surprised ITV haven't thought about scrapping the prerecords, for cost reasons(in their eyes), or that occasionally someone pushes a wrong button & unintentionally reveals that part of the programme is recorded.

If you extended the programme, you could cover all of the region live!

(Suppose ITV wouldn't let regional news be longer than the national news? Oh for the days you used to get an hour long Central News on Monday & Friday, to cover the sport, plus other things!)

Thank you, I'm in the same boat myself - normally get back home about half 6. At present the BBC Midlands Today is better, it wasn't always that way though...
