Regional logos (Granada 'G', Yorkshire Chevron, Meridian sun-moon thing etc) remained on the endcaps, which weren't initially altered. Some were still in regional news titles, weather graphics etc. It must be appreciated that Carlton & Granada had still not merged at this point. On the day of the merger, the regional news graphics were changed, along with endcaps to generic designs.
To answer your question: I hated them all. I think the fact the arrival of these idents resulted in regional station identities disappearing, after almost half a century prejudiced my opinion of them but even looking back, I find them brash and in your face and I never liked the colour scheme. That said, the quality of the continuity was a big improvement on the Leeds-based continuity Granada viewers had been previously subjected to for the previous 4 years or so.
I looked into TV-ARK and found out that when Celebrity idents first aired, regional logos were moved exclusively to endboards. Is that true?
