There appears to be a huge question mark over the Westcountry sub-regions.

As things stand at present, even the news feed to members of parliament only provides the "south" service.

Sorry about this, Mr V, but there appears to be a CHANCE the other Westcountrys WON'T appear.

We'll have to wait and see.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! http://community.the-underdogs.org/smiley/armed/explode2.gif

Is there a logical reason? What's it got to do with those toffs in Parliament?

Logic, logic? NO James, we're talking about ITV here.

Nothing to do with parliament as such, but all the other sub-regions currently coming to Sky have traditionally been available on the MP's feed. The Westcountry subs, other than south, have NEVER been availaable to MPs.

As stated, I've only heard WHISPERS, nothing concrete, so we'll have to wait and see.

Which of the 5 Transponder's is Men and Motors on?

It's on transponder ITV-5.

In addition to the ITV1 regions, the five transponders also transmit ITV2, ITV3, two versions of ITV News Channel (anyone know WHY two?) and Men & Motors.

I've added them to the list.

The 2nd News channel could turn into ITV4/ITV Kids in 3 months time??

The Meridian split is now complete.

Will this lead to a rationalisation of the Meridian sub-regions?

The arrangement for analogue was to feed Midhirst and Heathfield separately so that a "Sussex" sub-region could be created by combining the two, this was only used for adverts. For news, Heathfield was part of Maidstone and Midhirst was part of Southampton.

It will be interesting to see if the "Sussex" sub-region on D-SAT takes Midhirst or Heathfield.

Another point, many influential voices (mainly the Brighton Argus!) frequently complain that Sussex is poorly served by television, suggesting that Kent and Sussex should both have their own sub-regions. Now we know that the problems are (a) that the populous coastal strip west of Brighton comes off Rowridge, and (b) that Heathfield covers a lot of Kent as well as Sussex.

Now this poor olde sheep is no anorak (really), but does have an annoying habit of looking to see where television aerials point to. On a recent train trip along Coastway West I did happen to notice that Whitehawk Hill has a much larger territory westwards from Hove than the coverage maps suggest, and that each of the towns further along tends to be more loyal to its local relay than direct Rowridge.

Most of the relays in the area RBR Rowridge, as it would be difficult to get a Midhirst feed to many of them. Notwithstanding the cost though, suppose there was a microwave chain to RBL the relays that could not RBR Whitehawk directly; which significant parts of Sussex would remain in Rowridge territory? Possibly only Bognor.

Very Happy As the late king said - Buggar Bognor.

You'll have a long wait. It's been decided that Westcountry will not replicate its splits on DSAT. And that's final I am afraid.

And that's a different source from my original one, so I reckon it's now pretty darn definite then, I'm afraid, Mr V.

So... there is more than three Meridian regions...

South, East & West are News ones, so South-East & North must be adverts only?

No, North is the correct name for the one you're calling West. The old Newbury originated news programme.

South-East is the "Sussex" advert area, where one transmitter takes South news and the other one takes East.

All SO horribly complicated that both North and South-East got the Fred and Debbie version of the news tonight, due to "circumstances beyond our control".

Any particular reason why? Westcountry will be the only region without its sub regions on Sky. What is your source?
