I remember hearing that some people whose ITV sub-region changed recently (thinking Anglia, Central, etc.) received a letter to warn them of the change and to tell them that they'd need to re-assign ITV1 as a favourite and re-add programmes to the personal planner.
So far I've not had anything here at the southern-most point of Tyne Tees' area (which really should be Yorkshire - but that's another matter). Just wondering if anyone else has received any warning of further sub-region changes.
I think Men and Motors is treated indepdently of other ITV channels - presumably because there may still be transponder and uplink contracts still in place that were agreed during the GSkyB era.
It is interesting that there are three variants of Anglia now - when there are only two news regions. It looks like ITV are now aiming to replicate their full advertising regionality on DSat (as Channel Four do with their regional feeds, but Channel Five don't - though Five have the ability to dynamically remap their analogue transmitters between regions I believe which may be why?)
Certainly Anglia South and Anglia East currently only differ in advert and not programme terms...
I guess as DSat becomes more important as a viewing platform - advertisers expect their adverts to be broadcast to viewers in their target region irrespective of delivery platform. An advertiser buying a slot on Anglia South wouldn't be happy if DSat viewers in their region saw an Anglia East advert instead...
Which of the 5 Transponder's is Men and Motors on?
It's on transponder ITV-5.
In addition to the ITV1 regions, the five transponders also transmit ITV2, ITV3, two versions of ITV News Channel (anyone know WHY two?) and Men & Motors.
