I must admit, I've enjoyed watching repeats of crime dramas on ITV1 on weekday afternoons these past few months. But surely ITV are playing with fire here? Last week, Digital Spy reported that ITV breached rules in the summer when showing Taggart repeats, as there were several violent scenes. Now Taggart is known for its graphic scenes, but it's not alone. Most, if not all, of the other dramas have had some degree of violence and strong language. There original broadcast was post-watershed, but they seem to be broadcasting them at 4pm totally unedited. For instance, and this is by no means an isolated incident, we've just had a sh*t in the last five minutes of Midsomer Murders, as well as a man strangling a woman to death in a car - at ten to five in the afternoon. ITV has said it will no longer be broadcating episodes of Taggart in this timeslot, but that was last shown in June/July and they are still broadcating crime dramas intended to go out after 9pm.
Personally, I don't mind, but young children should not be able to easily see and hear these scenes and strong language.
