The silver ITV Digital stickers are a nice touch. However, the rest of the re-brand seems to be very half hearted (pardon the pun, I amuse myself sometimes). The names of the channels have changed but nothing else has, ONdigital branding is still everywhere (apart from the ITV Digital Information Channel which is a scaled down version of ONview).

So,

Why is there no new EPG ?
Why has ONrequest been rebranded ITV Select, but all of the ONrequest idents and trailers remain ?
And why is ONdigital branding everywhere ?

Perhaps it's me being impatient but I can't see the point of doing half a job really.

I was bit concerned that no other rebranding went on.

The ITV Sports Channel Plus on 99 is running but its saying 'This channel will remain as OnSport until 11th August.

The main one or the select one isn't working yet, well wasn't when I checked it.

I don't see the point of it all. OnDigital branding is still everywhere. Would it of been that hard to change the On graphics and change a few colours?

BTW, ITV Channel 3 is now known as ITV1 but there is no onscreen reference to this name yet, but expect something soon!

I've just seen a trailer on ITV for some soap program or something. It had some new hearts on it- a better version of the spinning ones, maybe this will be part of the new look?

It still said ITV (no 1) and there was no proper end board, but in the week before introducing new trailers, one usually slips the net and is shown early (I've seen this happen before the last three).

Oh yes, look at the ITV Digital website by the way, in particular the logo at the top. Notice how there is a picture of an eye in the middle of it, maybe eyes will feature as well in the new look. http://www.itv-digital.co.uk

I've nicked this from MHP, hope Ed won't mind!

'The latest rumour is that when ITV go onto Sky, within the next few months,
all regions will be available — channel 103 will be allocated your local ITV
region.
The rest will have to be manually tuned in if you wish to view them.
I was wondering what ITV REGION would everyone choose if they had a choice and why?'

If that's the case then great but in all fairness, you can't ignore the fact that the channels may be blocked due to viewing / advertising / copyright reasons etc..

Cheers, Asa

Confused Will this include UTV?

Not likely, they have never used any ITV corporate looks before, and they aren't likely to either. In fact I haven't seen the ITV Digital ad on UTV yet this week, I don't know if they are even airing it.

And there is a story in today's Times that they are about to go to court to have the rebranding of ONdigital reversed.

In short: UTV will stay UTV (and the SMG companies will probably keep their existing idents too). Only the Carlton and Granada companies (and Border, and maybe Channel) will become ITV-1.

There's also some stars, maybe that was to keep the Carlton side of the partnership happy.

I agree, otherwise if they weren't blocked, loacl advertisers would be reaching a far greater audience than they have actually paid to broadcast to.

An ITV2 ad has an announcer saying the programme is 'on 2', he didn't say 'ITV2'! The rebranding of idents and ITV1 ads will probably be on August 11th - 1 month after the ITV Digital relaunch. OnSport also won't be broadcasting until August 11th - so it'll effectively never broadcast again. This is because they mainly show football - and it's the close season.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I heard that all ITV channels will have consistent branding. That probably means the same or (more probably) similar trailers etc on all of the channels.

I really do hope that they give the GMG stations a 'coming next' thing like the new Carlton ones!

I was sceptical about ITV1 coming on August 11th, but ITN yesterday stated that the rebrand is happening 'in the summer... next month' so August 11th (or possibly 13th) could well be on the cards.

And it seems that the [itv]1] logo is the one they will be using.

Perhaps this is why Granada North stations are not using the animated idents -- so they can just superimpose the [itv]1] over the top of the existing [itv]? It can't be because of regional announcements since 2 of the 4 announcers (the older ones from YTV) still don't do them and only the young woman is doing them regularly.
