Now what was stopping Scottish and Grampian doing this, at least the presentation would match and accidental slips wouldn't be so obvious. I like how UTV have embraced the new look. It still could have been ITV 1 Ulster but lets not quibble, and just enjoy the new look...

I take back my previous comment about the music on the UTV idents, it actually has changed. OK, not completely but they have made slight tweaks to the start of all of them.
This is the second ident shown today (same as the first but with the new music):

And this is the third. A very clever ident from UTV this time. It starts with a shot of the scene at night and as it pans round, the scene slowly changes to daylight:

The UTV logo is well outside the 4:3 safe area.

Just to add that even The Sun newspaper has the new ITV1 logo on the tv listings page!
Rarely does a new logo ever make it into a listings guide at the correct time! lol

Tell me about it! My local paper still uses the 5 in a circle for Channel 5, and ITV is still Central, with the cake logo!

The reason is that Calendar doesn't want to alienate viewers in Bradford, Sheffield and Hull - all of which are big cities in their own right and don't especially look towards Leeds as a regional centre.

Why can't Calendar have a backdrop of Leeds or something? Other local news programmes have - Central has a backdrop of Leicester and Granada has one of Manchester.

I don't look towards Leicester as a regional centre for the East Midlands though?? Maybe they will use a different city every day or week?
