I decided to try out how the regional idents should be:

I Agree. I thought that they were going to do them that way when I saw the previews before the revamp.

Well for those of you not blessed with the ability to watch HTV and its freezing idents, a local trail in the new style [voiced, seemingly, by two ex-employees] is in generous proportions

As owan mentioned earlier, the credits and endcap for Wales This Week/Ferret seem unique, but I don't watch enough ITV to say for sure

A production by whom [if not ITV]?

I noticed Emmerdale had a 'Next time..' clip at the end of tonight's episode. Is this going to be an ongoing trend? Or is Emmerdale failing in the ratings?

Good grief! Was it in the ITV corporate style, before the credits or just a video in the ECP?

I presume it was part of the ECP as if it had been at the end of the programme we would have had it on UTV, which we didn't.

It was in the corporate ITV1 style with a video in the ECP.

Was it something simular to what Brookside used to show at the end of their episodes in the later years? I didnt see it last night as ive stopped watching Emmerdale.

At first it seemed that both national and regional ITV programmes would end with the ITV Productions animation. But they forgot that many regional programmes are co-productions. So some regions just stayed with the old branding.

Then I saw some captions that appeared to have been made up on the fly, with no consitency. For example, Beaumont co-produce two of the regional Soccer Night shows, but the captions used by both regions were different.

Now with the "HTV" end-cap it looked as though another hand-made caption has sprung up. Except that Central used the exact same caption at the end of Central Extra on Tuesday.

So gawd knows what's going on. Why HTV and Central couldn't have used the standard ITV Productions animation in this case is curious. And the mention of ITV1 just doesn't seem right - the production brand is ITV after all.

My understanding was that all programmes made by either ITV Productions (previously Granada branded) or the regional centres (eg ITV West branded) would ALL carry the ITV Productions annimation.

As originally received for the revamp of the regional news titles last month, the closing credit sequence had an ITV Productions annimation attached, though this rarely appeared on screen, as the ident form-up began after the music had finished.

This has subsequently been replaced by "A Production for ITV1" wording, which will be used on all output from the regional centres.

Frankly, this change seems pointless, as unless the viewer reads the copyright tag on the end of the credits, they will not know who made the programme!

Oddly, the old episodes of Poirot (being shown afternoons) have been given the new ITV Productions logo, when most older programmes remain transmitted with their original endcap intact. Whomever produced the new end credit sequence for the programme, took considerable care to use a large font and the whole name "London Weekend Television" on the copyright tag. Nice to see that someone still cares!

Why the regional version of the new ITV logo could simply have not have been used on locally produced output, I cannot understand!

Here is Yorkshire they've continued to use 'An ITV Yorkshire and XXX Co-Production' endcap for most regional programmes, but have now started to use 'ITV Productions in association with XXX'

I've managed to see most of the regional idents now (in all their 'glory'!), despite ITV deciding to go with national continuity again on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

I've not seen an ITV Central ident yet, though. Has anyone else? If so, when is the best time to catch one?

P.S. Hats off to Anglia who are showing 30 minutes more regional programming on Thursday night than the other English regions, opting out of CD:UK Hotshots.
