Since the abolition of Humberside, the English government region/European Parliament constiuency has been known as "Yorkshire & Humber".

This is to take into account North Lincolnshire and Northeast Lincolnshire being part of the region (the southern part of what was Humberside). Ironically the regional agency is called just "Yorkshire Foward", which can't sit well with folk living in northern Lincolnshire Laughing

Obviously not quite on the pulse regarding YTV.

Well I would beg to differ; I work there.

Calendar has been in ints own building since 1991 (studio from 1992), Emmerdale in Studio 1 since 1996/1997...

The plan is to close all of the ITV buildings in the Kirkstall road area, including the Emmerdale and Calendar buildings.

if that's the case, what do they intend to replace them with?

The idea is to close all three buildings down and give Calendar an office in the city centre, build a new purpose build studio complex for Emmerdale and the other dramas close to the Emmerdale village, and everything else will move to Manchester

Such as myself. It's strange being in Humberside, Lincolnshire AND the Yorkshire region.

Any news on that office in Hull?

Just another thing - the cost. Moving all the Northern Transmission Centre, Tape Store, ProVision, Northern Film Processing, CITV administration and the like to Manchester for a couple of years seems a bit wasteful (Quay Street likely to shut when Salford opens, as the BBC then won't need 3sixtymedia then).

Surely 3SixtyMedia (or a successor) will run the studio facilities in Salford? They aren't being operated by the BBC and presumably not ITV either.

As for moving everything, I doubt they'll keep a northern transmission centre, I'm sure the new centre in Chiswick would have been future-proofed and built with a view to adding the rest of the regional streams

Not sure who will run them - but I suspect it will be a 3rd party rather than a joint BBC/ITV-owned and operated operation - as 3SixtyMedia is. I'd expect it to be a facilities operation - not a broadcaster owned set-up.

If the Beeb had sold their Studio Resources operation (i.e. TV Centre and Elstree) to a 3rd party then that third party may have had an interest I guess?

AIUI the studio buildings are being built at the moment - but I don't know if who if anyone planning to lease/fit-out/run them yet. All a bit murky...

Presumably you'd still need a second site for resilience? (Or is that the South Bank?)

Is the Chiswick operation in the IMG building or a new build?

Funny how you got so much wrong then!

What have I got wrong?

I haven't stated any facts, other than:

1. ITV don't use studio 3 and 4 for their own shows anymore.
2. The idea is to close all three buildings down and give Calendar an office in the city centre, build a new purpose built studio complex for Emmerdale and the other dramas close to the Emmerdale village, and everything else will move to Manchester.

Both of those statements are true, so how am I not 'on the pulse' and 'getting it all wrong' exactly?

ITV need to cut costs and save money. How will they cut costs by closing down a purpose built studio complex only to build a new purpose built studio complex for drama, 5 minutes walk away?
Me thinks ITV will announce next month that Kirkstall Road studios will close down. ITV will lease a floor in a Leeds city centre office to house Calendar (there cant be more than 80 people working on Calendar).
Emmerdale will probably stay put for now but everything else will move to Manchester.
The way ITV is in financial straits, there is not a hell in hope that ITV will announce next month that they are going to build a new studio complex in Leeds to house Emmerdale and ITV drama.

Is anyone seriously suggesting that that ITV are going to close the Emmerdale studios and get planning permission to rebuild a production centre in the middle of a conservation area on Lord Harewoods estate? If Drama is to move to Salford, where exactly is it going to go? The present media city is not designed to house a permenant drama set, neither is there a backlot that I am aware of.

The Emmerdale set is only on a ten year lease - plane crash anybody?
