The Lunchtime News finished as normal, followed by a loud beep their must have been some sort of technical slide because it flashed on but quickly changed to he ITV1 logo. The announcer apoligised, then the closing Sheila's Wheels sting played followed by the adverts.. typical ITV - so no weather forecast.

The same happened here in Granadaland but you can hardly say "typical ITV". They overrun in the afternoon as it is with a 2pm show not starting until at least 2.05pm so people would just complain even more if it didn't go out until 2.07pm. If people want the weather forecast that badly then they could use teletext, the internet etc or wait until 3pm for the regional one.
Well it wasn't the only problem on ITV today - the 7:30 regional news bulletin on GMTV was lost in all "southern" regions (ie everything south of Yorkshire) it was blamed on technical problems in London... strange that it only seemed to be regions south of Yorkshire that were affected though because I thought the Leeds playout centre didn't exist any more?
Leeds Playout does still exist, but I don't think it does during GMTV. Perhaps the northern regions are sent on to GMTV from Leeds, which worked, but the feed of the southern regions to GMTV from Southern Playout didn't.
Yes there is people still watching ITV1, and I'm one of them, along with the other 10 million or so watching Corrie, or 6 million watching Benidorm. I watch ITV1 a lot more than I do BBC One (or Two for that matter, which I only watch when Top Gear is on). Only shows I'm watching on BBC One at the moment are My Family and The Apprentice, compared to the soaps, The Bill, Benidorm, Teenage Kicks, Britain's Got Talent and such on ITV1. No doubt ITV1 has its flaws, and quite a lot of them, but it's not all bad.
