No, if you'd actually read the artcile (I'm sure you did, you're just picking out the bits you wish to use against them bit like most broadcasters are doing today) it said they are Executive Producers as they have creative input on the programme. An awful lot of Exec Producers do just this as well.
This whole thing's getting ridiculous. Even Channel 4 News have it as their top story - is there nothing else going on in the world?

Ant and Dec themselves were quick to say they had no idea and quick to be defended - but now they look even more stupid as it appears their credit of being "Executive Producers" was for "vanity" - so aka. FAKE!

True - (on both counts to be honest) - but where is the line going to be drawn in the TV witchhunt. We already have the very annoying obvious disclaimers that phoning in for competitions after they close won't mean you're entered into the competition - so are squeaky clean TV companies going to allow TV presenters a title just for their own "vanity". ITV's solution will probably be to drop the credits and avoid the issue!
Initially Ant and Dec were credited as "Creative Consultants" IIRC, and though as you say there is nothing unusual with presenters being credited as Executive Producers - as they obviously have some input into the show - they also have to take some responsibility.
As innocent as they may be, they look pretty foolish in just blaming the rest of the production team - though considering the speed of their response, I imagine ITV are pulling the strings to protect their talent.
It's the sort of story though Channel 4 News and Newsnight would always cover - it's the lesser, ill-informed, headline grabbing media organisations jumping on the bandwagon

I trust ITV because it was their own report and Grade is there

Well ITV went overboard with bringing themselves down didn't they, especially Ant & Dec. So they have a business of their own like millions of other people do...they're money grabbing thieves now? Give me a break and report some real news please.

Just underlines how silly the whole thing is.

The old ITV1 next slide was just used, with the old music as well:

Shouldn't this be out of the system now?

Yes, I was away from the set but heard the music and was a bit confused!
