ITV thread

Minor day to day running of stuff (June 2007)

Don't get me wrong, I think these new idents are an improvement but I just don't see the significance of them other than... they include items of yellow in them. They just seem boring and un-thoughtful compared to other channels such as:
*Channel 4 where the 4 is formed cleverly and unsuspectingly
*BBC One where the majority such as magical forest and mission control where the circle is formed after a series of events, again, unsuspectingly
AND
*BBC Two where, like Channel 4 to a lesser extent, the Two is cleverly formed out of normal objects.

Of course, I know that ITV 1's aren't the worst in the world but slapping a bit of yellow just seems uninspiring to me. What is their symbol? The Yellow? At least with the other main channels it is clear (Circle, Two, Four)

I'm not saying I want some 'everyday life' ident like Four, Two and to some extent One, but I'm just sick seeing Yellow randomness on my screen! It really is earning it's nickname of Sh it e- v both in presentation and programming.

I know the BBC ONE idents of Rhythm/ Dancers were themed Red but at least the theme was Rhythm... what's the theme with ITV 1?

Well, IIRC the ITV1 idents theme is "alive with colour". Can anyone confirm this? Smile

Was away from the controls at 9PM, but I left everything recording on the offchance...

That ident, gold fountains rising from the alleyway puddles - quite, quite superb.

And by the sounds of it, has also been given a distinct enough variant of the music - if a little spoiled by the announcer just as it picks up.

It's got to be my favourite ITV1 ident of this lot, and possibly one of the best I've seen the channel come up with in the past few years; I certainly think it puts the originals of this set to shame, even moreso the January '06 lot.

I'd love to see the ITV 1 logo being given the original Sky1 neon look - fully CGI!!!

There again I have always though that the CGI logos have worked the best. Think Central, Yorskhire's liquid gold, and most of Sky's early idents/logo's!!!!!

Ye, alive with just the one colour of... hmmm...Yellow Wink even if things are not yellow... lets just make them yellow.

Okay, I have one thing to complain about the new ITV1 ident set...

FOR GOODNESS SAKES, MAKE THE ITV1 LOGO SMALLER....

The previous sets (ones added before 3 september) which had smaller logo fits perfectley...

BUT MAKING IT BIGGER MAKES IT UGLY...

So, tell me, where do I complain to ITV about it?

I'm sure it was in this thread someone said about the tv guides now saying programmes start at 11.05pm. Now i tuned in to watch Bouncers last night and it didnt start until 11.15pm (well just before). It seems that even though they have moved the time, its to give them even more space? Why do they do that, why not just say the programme was going to start at 11.10pm?
