this it 1990

as No5 was in 1985

No.5 first went out on Christmas Day, 1987, as It'll Be Alright on Christmas Night . Subsequent repeats have been as It'll Be Alright on the Night 5, the first showing under this title was in October 1988.

No.6 debuted in December 1990 and, as has been said earlier, was the first edition to use what became its classic theme tune. The only two instalments not to use this have been All-Star Special in 2003 and Alright on the Night's 50 Years of ITV in 2005.

(Note that some of the specials took up number in the AOTN series although they were not transmitted as such; no.9 is better known as Alright on the Night's Cockup Trip while the All-Star Special was number 17 in the series.)

Rather than start a new thread (the CITV thread has been archived).

As I was flicking through the channels this morning, I noticed the CITV DOG on both ITV1 and the CITV Channel seems to have gained some weight.

Now I don't see much of CITV but I'm sure the DOG hasn't always been that big. Are ITV emphasising that they are actually showing CITV on ITV1 Laughing

Yes they have reverted back to what I thought it was supposed to look like now. Strange, maybe someone hit the supersize button this morning?

Simple, they wanted to make it more intrusive. Channel 4's slug looked fine but they supersized and uglified it so ITV obviously wanted to follow suit. IMO ITV had the best design until now; it worked particularly well on their digital channels. I think BBC Two has the neatest slug at present.

Yes I noticed that too.

Didn't realise they've now started using these in drama Rolling Eyes I hope it's confined to the soaps.

ECP stands for End Credit Promotion. Does the cap look like credits...?These are termed lower frame supers or banner ads (ior slugs etc) which are usually shown within a programme.
