ITV Text now on Freeview

Plus new BBCi "Press Red" graphic (June 2005)

ITV Text has now launched on all ITV channels on Freeview.

It's probably a more comprehensive service than Teletext on 4, with full sports coverage and the inclusion of the news features, plus a full Freeview TV Guide.

However, it's not as easy on the eye IMO - or quite so easy to navigate.

As with TT on 4, Yellow and Blue are for Shortcuts and Menu respectively, but Red goes to "A-Z" while Green goes "Back".

You can't switch to full screen TV, or switch between ITV channels.

Also, going to p200 or p700 takes you straight to Teletext Holidays / Cars, without the warning page asking if you want to leave that features on TT on 4.

On the whole though it's got good content - and the "Please Wait" caption when you press TEXT is ridiculously big.

P.S. BBCi have also changed their "Press RED" / "Loading..." graphic today - it's bigger and features the "i" part of the new BBCi logo.

The new BBCi "Press Red" thing is really big, is it now the size of the sky version?, the other one was much nicer.

That's except for viewers with ONDigital/ITV Digital boxes.

This has been confusing us DSat viewers for a few weeks now - at least a couple of times I've hit the 'i' button instead of the red one

It would be good if for the ITV-branded Teletext service they could source some more informative ITV News listings than:
05:00 24-hour news

Sounds good, does anyone happen to have any screengrabs?

I've noticed that the ITVi service is now available on ITV3 & ITV News on Sky Digital via the text button, so I presume this is for the preparation of the launch on sky.

I do hope that they keep the ITVi services, especially for them to introduce a news interactive service, there's no reason why they can't record special little features like the Sky & the BBC do, maybe start off with a 4 screen for weather, sport, entertainment and the main story, etc.
