I suppose one thing that might come out of it is that gm.tv may be scrapped and the GMTV website integrated on itv.com/gmtv, or GMTV might remain but it could go into the style of the ITV website. I think the GMTV website looks very dated, almost like someone has created it using a Freewebs template or something.

This website has already appeared (although there isn't a lot there at the moment, and some of the links redirect to gm.tv):

So does ITV have ownership immediately or is their a period to wait until they are at the helm?

ITV took over with immediate effect.

Thanks, so ITV won't be 'handing over' to GMTV any more now.

How many half hour programmes do ITV have though (currently) that could fit into that slot? Grimefighters is about it

Looking at the possible Gameshow idea, that kind of returns to what we had from 1987-1997. When TVam/GMTV ended at 09:25, we had a handover to the ITV company, and then a quick dash to the This Morning Studio, to see what was coming up, and also to see what was on The Time The Place studio. Then, at roughly 09:28, game show, such as Cross wits, Chain Letters, Keynotes, up until 10:00.

By the looks of things, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a new version of one of these shows.

There is no reason to change the 9.25am start just for the sake of it - as long as Jeremy Kyle is around, I think that time will stay.

Opting out is an interesting idea - indeed arguably Breakfast is one area where STV opting out really could serve the Scottish audience, rather than deprive them of shows they don't want to pay for.

STV/UTV/Channel opting out between 0600-0925 would require a change to their licenses wouldn't it?

They only have licenses to broadcast on the ITV1 slot between 0925 and 0600, with GMTV (now owned by ITV Plc) having the exclusive license to broadcast in all ITV1 regions (including STV/UTV/Channel) on the ITV1 slot 0600-0925.

Opting out during GMTV's 0600-0925 slot (as UTV did on one occasion, and it lost them the GMTV news supply contract for GMTV in NI) is currently in breach of the franchise licenses and would allow ITV Plc, under the auspices of their GMTV franchise licence, to take STV/UTV/Channel to court if they did?

When the ITV Network had F1 rights they had to do some horsetrading (with GMTV gaining airtime at different times of the day) so that ITV Network could use GMTV airtime.

Presumably if STV/UTV/Channel wanted to opt-out of GMTV's slot, they would have to reach an agreement and pay GMTV (now ITV Plc) for the airtime?

I believe so, I can remember Toonactick being shown from about 09am - 11.30 on Sunday.

It would also work the other way around and STV could chop of GMTV at 09.25
