Indeed, the I got confused in all the excitement!

Media Guardian reporting that ITV has taken full control of the Channel 3 breakfast franchise, buying Disney's 25% stake in a £22.25m deal.

I know, we're all excited. Deep breaths...

About time they did, although it certainately leaves a whole question mark over the future of their Kids programmes, where a lot of them come from Disney.

Although it's technically still a Licence and probably will be for a few years to come, I wouldn't be too surprised at cutbacks or any merging with other ITV departments.

Editorial review beginning next week; closer integration looks likely.

This could be very awkward for STV (and to a lesser extent UTV). Technically there's surely nothing to stop ITV PLC rebranding 6am to 9.25am as ITV1, and causing all sorts of trouble within those hours.

<vo> From the Studios of ITV plc. on the South Bank of the River Thames - the news from ITV Breakfast with some tart</vo>

Anyway. For a company who "can no longer sustain it's regional news responsibility and may have to start selling assets" HOW THE HELL CAN THEY AFFORD TO BUY GMTV?!?. I mean, for goodness sakes, it isn't right.

I say, we all chip in and try to raise enough to buy ITV out. We'd sort them out.
