Why would ITV News be effected, aren't the staff employed by ITN not ITV?

Isnt ITV new London also controlled by ITN?

Given it's BECTU it'll be the craft operators such as camera people, video editors and sound ops... and given so much of the industry is freelance these days it's hard to know what the impact may be - if any.

Im sure there can find a cheap filler at 18.30 Wink

There's plenty of episodes of You've Been Framed to choose!
Rijowhi, London Lite and Brekkie gave kudos

ITV News doesn't just include ITN, it also includes the ITV plc Regional News operations.

AIUI ITV have quite a lot of staff still at both The London Studios (home of Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, Loose Women, This Morning) and at their Leeds base where they make Emmerdale. I assume there are some staff working on Corrie on an ITV operation, though I'd the Dock 10 stuff (Kyle etc.) may not be staffed by ITV staff (though it might be - there's no reason you can't take staff from your operation into a dry / damp hire studio)

Does this mean itv.could do an outside broadcast with this morning to by pass the strike?

If they have enough freelance or non-union production staff - yes. They could also use third party studios if they were able to find a set to put in them (or a studio with a standing set). However this would be a lot tougher than staffing a skeleton service, and put you at much greater risk. (Inexperienced staff making a show in an unfamiliar location in an unfamiliar manner is not a great recipe for scintillating TV. A standby show would probably be safer...)

it might not be popular but could some of these be done or controlled through stv or utv and get round the strike that way suruptiicously of course

It's all to do with how ITV's normal staff pay rises compare with their management though...I do agree with you though Square Eyes. They've got it good compared to many...
