Well we are nearly in the third quarter of the year and ITV plan to launch on SD by or in the fourth quarter of this year. What services will we recieve from ITV? what will they look like? could we see ITV relaunch for the occasion? Also if you have any news put it here.

ooooh, and the sooner the better......

I have heard that Granada have been advised to get rid of OnDigital, and as you know, Granada are like one third of ITV, so it's not looking good for On, or ITV Digital.

Would they still launch on Sky with that????

Could someone explain how they would do it please.

Would it actually be a regional service, or would it be a general service. It would be excellent if it was a purely ITV service. Imagine at 6.00 or whenever it is: 'Now on ITV, for regional news press TV. Or stay here for a pick of the region's news in... Britain Today.'

it will be regional as soon as it launches. so if like me you recieve carlton. it will be there from launch. bbc will go regional on SD when the cost is viable eg analouge switch off.

But how would they ensure you received the correct region? I don't understand how you would get the region specific to your area.

they use your postcode and set up your digibox to recieve the correct region. they will download a software to your digibox.

basically all regions are sent out to every sattellite and your digibox is sent the encryption code for your region in a software download i would think but correct me if im wrong.Confused

If ITV don't get access to Sky's conditional access system, then I think we'll get all the regions!

Correct me if I am wrong!

i heard that as well. originally they were going to put all regions but it would sort of contradict the point of having regions if we recieve them all. i hope we just get two regions (well if you live in a crossover area)

Would the regions all be on channel 103 but?

The regions will be on a certain frequency available using the 'Add Channels' feature but, as mentioned, if conditional access comes in, they'll all be encrypted.

Your box will then get your postcode and show your region on ch.103.
People in dual-access areas will get another ITV region in the 900's or something (like BBC Two Nations)

SES and ITV signed a deal quite a few months ago to put all ITV regions on it's sattelites. Its only the deal between BSkyB and ITV that has to be settled. Hopefully not to long to wait. I basically just want ITV2 so that i can watch the American grand prix live. I hope they settle the deal soon.
