Just received a letter from local ITV station, Channel Television about local advertising and I thought the following section might be interesting -
' There's one more exciting development. By the end of the year, along with the other ITV companies, Channel Television will be broadcast on digital satellite. The station is investing heavily to provide Islanders with this alternative platform to view our broadcasts' - taken from Channel Television Marketing Newsletter for Advertising 09.08.01
So there we go confirmation from one ITV company. Can't wait to watch Meridian again and LWT, roll on the end of the year.
I would be interested if anyone knows any more about ITV on Sky.
The non-local regions might not be available straight away though, because of rights clearances, the same problem that the BBC has that mean BBC1 Scotland, Wales and N.I. are not currently available to all SkyD viewers - although they have already ironed out these problems for the less-regionalised BBC2...

The most likely scenario is that we will get our 'main' ITV1 region on 103 and if you live in an overlap you will get your other region(s) in the 900s. The ITC define which are overlap areas (there's a map on their web site), so there is no ambiguity as to which areas can receive more than one ITV1.
However, what I want to know is how do they decide which ITV1 region goes on 103 in these overlap areas. For example, in North Wales you could argue Granada is the main ITV1 region, but then again surely it is HTV Wales because they are the ITV1 region for Wales? Which one goes on 103? Another good example would be Reading. Carlton/LWT or Meridian?

I sooooo hope there's a way of getting other ITV regions -- being able to get in particular HTV, Channel, UTV, Grampian and Border would be great!

Oh no, that would be awful! Especially considering that ANALOGUE TERRESTRIAL will be switched off in the forseeable future - meaning that those who have chosen to 'go digital' by way of satellite (rather than digital terrestrial or digital cable) won't be able to get their own sub-region at all.
So, this scenario is all very well AT THE PRESENT TIME... but eventully (and before ananlogue terrestrial is switched off) the sub-regions will have to be available on DigiSat BECAUSE THERE WON'T BE THE OPTION OF 'PRESSING 'tv' AND BUTTON '3' ON OUR REMOTES'!!!!!
Of course analogue won't go on forever, but you can't blame anyone for dipping to digital before diving in? The ITC will eventually force all sub-regions to go onto DSat, of course, but until then, getting the main regions is important.
BBC Two Wales Digital is going to have more programming separate from the analogue channel soon and until the shutoff, they may as well!
