Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets just beat the figure that watched The Philosophers Stone last Christmas Day on BBC One which drew 7.9m.

The bit I don't get is why Friday and Saturday nights are so youth-obsessed - this is obviously a throwback to decades back, but nowadays most of the audience is out at the pub. Yet on Sunday nights, when the 18 to 25s are in the house, dreading work the next day and looking for some entertainment, that's when Heartbeat's shown.

Is there a reason for this, or is it just a historical thing?

More news from Saturday is that this peak time share is the best ITV1 has had since February 2002. With a massive 40.7% share overall.

I wonder what was being shown in February 2002, was it the final of the first series of Pop Idol perhaps?

X factor's not on Christmas Eve, finishes 17th.

I know that I'm just thinking that Christmas is a very high viewing period and I wonder how big the audiences will be for the evening. I can see Christmas Day having a big drop but Doctor Who, might get an audience similar to what we've been reading about. Sorry I'm a bit of a ratings junkie! Very Happy

Christmas Eve figures will be quite low, always are, that's why there's nothing much on. Self fulfilling prophecy.
