Rumours of a potential £3billion private equity bid for ITV has sent is Shares Soaring,

weekend reports that Three firms were considering a possible approach for ITV.

But the question is well it made a different to ITV?

Believe it or not it would probably be for the worse as a private equity group only has one concern - profit!

I'm not sure what you mean by "sent shares soaring" if anything they went down 3points today.

I'm inclined to agree Brekkie. Private Equity consortia generally buy companies like ITV simply to strip their assets and then move on shortly afterwards. However, ITV have managed to do quite alot of asset-stripping themselves in the last couple of years.

I'm sure it would be better if an international broadcaster like RDF or Disney bought the core business (ITV Productions), and that may be the end result after everything else has been sold off.
