I seem to remember the Post Office trying this with "Consigna" or somegthing like that, didn't work mind!
ITV really is a mess at the minute; Scrap all this reality crap - Celebrity **** Island "whats all that about" Peter Kay moment. Bring back some old stuff - comedy is one of ITV's strong points we could do with some more of it....
Is the use of Granada rather than ITV due to the fact that despite misleading media coverage, ITV is still not a single company, with UTV and the two scottish franchises remaining outside the Carlton-Granada orbit?
ITV plc is a single company the ITV network is not.
a question, do you think the news will change (again ) If so who pays for it? ITVPLC or ITN?
It has to if ITV are rebranding, the coloured blocks will mean nothing, if ITV are getting rid of them. It will be a shame though, as ITV news has made the best use of the blocks.

That's a good point, perhaps a reason for ITV not to change the branding drastically or to make the news seem out of place.
I find it pointless if they called each regional station Granada (Region or worse still station) Its should either be ITV (Region NOT Channel name) or just bring back the original station title for all regions. ITV1 don't even mention station names anymore so I can't see the problem with a new ITV1 ident used for news and regional programming with the words HTV West or indeed Carlton underneath it.
This revamp must sort out all the changes and edits that have happen since the station killed off the regions back in 2002.

Seems as if the regions no longer have a strong place in the branding, probably part due to the fact I have rarely seen such lately. You'll still find the odd ITV <region name> if you are lucky.
Being given their own entirely different identities is just that - a greater identity as a region; the flipside is inconsistent branding. The regional symbols associated could be used rather than just region name alongside the main logotype, and if not, a different font for every region text.

I know that, but the media coverage was all about the creation of a 'single ITV', which doies not exist. Only if and when UTV and the SMG franchises are merged with ITV plc will the company be truly able to call itself ITV.
