Ages ago, we discussed the ITV strike of 1979 and I made some comments (based on my own recollections) about how things looked when the strike ended. I've now found STV's Master Routine Sheet for the day in question, and it differs a little from my own recollections. As it's the definitive source (marked in my own fair hand) I thought it might interest some of you to see the details. I've omitted the details of commercial breaks as they're pretty uninteresting.

Amazing to see the EXACT times on there as well! Interesting to see THS = Thames, GRA = Granada. Presumabley, that's who was networknig the show(s) concerned, or the trailer(s)?

Great stuff, thanks Tony.

Interesting that indeed most of the continuity was coming from Thames for most of the night. My recollection must be totally flawed; I thought I distinctly recalled Tyne Tees's Kathy Secker appearing several times in-vision over the course of that night, but if STV were taking their feed from Thames the whole evening then the others must have been as well. I was very young back then, so that could explain it.

Maybe Tyne tees did, just because one company were doing it one way doesn't mean they all were

The short "Resume of Crossroads/Coronation Street" were the scenes specially shot to recap I assume? I had always thought these scenes were hastily added in after the titles rather than as a hook - or was it not quite like that?

Thanks ever so much for the listings Tony, most interesting!

It's possible that Cathy popped up a couple of times during the evening on TTT, although as I recall full local presentation didn't resume until the Friday.

Thanks for this, Tony. VERY interesting!

My recollection was an announcement before 321 and another before News At Ten, and possibly one or two others. I also recall the one before 321 having the announcer's name superimposed (presumably in that blocky computer-generated typeface they used at the time!).

There was nothing apart from this (no Tyne Tees trails or anything).

Pity that this didn't take place a few years later -- I suspect that by 1983 we'd have a neat set of VHS off-airs from each region, recorded by anoraks Laughing

Border resumed the next day, first announcer I think was Clive Champney. There was only one announcer who did the whole day in those days I think

Wonderful to see, thanks for sharing.

Tony apart from: 17:42:40 STV Ident ANN/SL "Good Evening, this is STV." you did not speak rest of the night?

Tony, what is: '00:56:56 Courtesy Announcement ANN '.... was that the 'unplug your set or your house will burn down' thing?
