And this year sport has even found it's way back to ITV2 for a couple of weekends where ITV3 had racing and ITV4 cycling.
As for the supposed world of on demand we live in no doubt that ITV's autumn strategy this year has significantly changed with stripped programming the linear equivalent of releasing series as a boxset.
ITV2 and ITV3 will need to change and adapt to this new future, but I see them doing that .
I thought ITV3 was/still is the most watched digital channel after the main 5 channels. ITV2 held this title for many years before ITV3 overtook but still is not that far behind. No chance ITV will be shutting them down anytime soon.
More minor channels like 5Select, 4Seven, Blaze etc are likely to bite the dust long before the most watched digital channel ITV3 is pulled of air.
ITV3 has the higher share, but both ITV2 and ITV4 reach more viewers than ITV3 does.

Where does ITVBe fit in - it seems to be endlessly advertised on the main ITV channel, although they've notably in recent weeks started releasing their flagship shows on the ITV Hub in the morning of the day they're broadcast.
Extending proper HD to the ITV Hub has to be part of this programme of change surely.
There is a lot of discussion about this at work - there were plans to implement a whole overhaul of the streaming platform to support higher adaptive bitrates and better edge cache performance; the resolution of material is shocking at the minute, and it's painfully slow at the best of times (even internally).
I understand the ad system is also being worked on, to create more of a seamless link between the show you're watching and the adverts associated with it. I believe COVID has paused this due to the cost.

And hopefully regional programming on the hub.
Considering some of the regions do podcasts/online video shows adding them to the ITV Hub would surely tick a few boxes no longer ticked on TV itself and may actually bring some viewers to the ITV Hub who wouldn't otherwise look at it.
