Oh dear, still not good for ITV1. BBC One are offering 2 quality dramas, good "competition" in SCD, ITV offer a 10 year old game show and a load of old tat! Sad

EDIT: And Parky, or did I already cover him? - lol Very Happy

I like the current set-up with regard to BBC One. Quality dramas, and no Casualty has no gone 'down hill' and compared with ITV it's frankly laughable. Crap game shows and a coffin dodger, best thing BBC One did getting rid of him!

Coffin dodger ? Are we talking Brucey ?

Casualty is very tired.

I agree Casualty is very tired. I think the BBC made a mistake by screening it almost every week of the year. It went downhill about 5 years ago.

Yep - the Gen Game with a popular host or hostess would be a smart move.

I'd rather them give some original ideas a chance though than just resurrect yet another old idea.

Re: Casualty - went downhill when it moved from Friday nights IMO!

And regarding Saturday nights in general - don't know about Europe really, but certainly in America and Australia Saturday nights are pretty much the graveyards of the schedule.

I guess then LWT played a huge factor in making Saturday night TV a very important part of the UK television landscape!

For me, the turning point of Casualty going rapidly downhill was when there was that minibus crash with some of the Doctors and that Doctor died who was supposed to be getting married to Lara. He was fine but they went out for a meal, she went to the toilet, came back and he was lay on the floor dead.

Anyone else know what I'm on about? Laughing

Well thats going back some years when it was on Friday night, I can just about remember it! I think its been on a Saturday since at least the early 1990s.

The turning point for it going downhill for me is when they slowly started increasing the number of episodes per series. It used to end in February, then March, then May, then June and now its August and only off for about 2-3 weeks before the new series! Like the soaps they always milk a sucessful programme for all its worth!

Agree about the series length - it does the show no favours either as it's pushed around the schedule accordingly.

When you take into account the double episodes there are probably 52 a year. Really it should alternate with Holby!

Talking of that, not heard anything about the spin-off police series for a while!

Yes, it doesnt appear to have a regular start time. At least Holby City has that.

It seems either British Dramas have very short series of 6-10 episodes or are on constantly. Apart from Doctor Who and Robin Hood of course which have 13 week runs.

Hmm, don't legends have to die before they become legends? Otherwise they become 'living legends' and that's just plain embarrassing, especially when said 'living legend' is reading the autocue standing next to Tess Daly.

I'm not sure how that works. Confused But my point is he isn't just another "new" celebrity that became a celeb by going on a Reality show he's been in this business over 30 years.

As much as I like Brucie, I think he is past his prime now and he is becoming an embarassment Confused

It's time we give new, proper talent a chance as well; by that I don't mean some reality-TV fraggle whose only experience of mass media is being irritating and/or crass on some tedious reality show.

I saw a repeat of Strictly Come Dancing the other night and one of the dancing couples got their microphones caught whilst performing - they just froze and Bruce ran on and said they should start again. The funny bit was, somebody from the audience ran on to sort the mics out and Bruce went "oh, who are you? Oooh live TV ladies and gentlemen I love it" Laughing

She was a member of the crew - if any nutters want to upstage a show, they don't usually try and help out by fixing microphones. Bruce was having a laugh saying "who are you?".
