To me, it seems that ITV are making a hash of everything lately. They have gone downhill.

Take for instance the News fiasco. They only recently wrote to Downing Street (?) to force the BBC to move their news back to 9. Well, if ITV actually reinstated News at Ten when the public wanted them to, they wouldn't have this problem of competion would they?

ITV should take a look at themselves rapidly. How I would love to take over control of the ITV Network right now!

I have to say, I am hardly surprised by this. I anticipated it would be a flop, as ITV1 chose rather badly IMO to broadcast this show at a time when its main viewership (football fans) were in the process of coming home from, guess what? Fooball matches! They should have thought about this, and broadcast it later on, say at around about 9-ish. Now it's going to late night, this simply isn't the solution either. There will be plenty of young children who would be in bed at that time and the footy fans who would be enabled to view the programme thanks to its new time would be too tired to concentrate on its content! Take my dad for example. Follows Boston United very closely. He goes to away matches, gets the supporters' coach back, comes home, and by the time MOTD comes on, he's zzzzzz-ing away in a living room armchair!

I think the whole thing should be either abandoned, ITV1 admitting they've overestimated the programme's worth, or they should hand programmes like this back to the BBC. I knew that if they couldn't get it right with a so-called lesser sport like F1, they hadn't a prayer with 'The Beautiful Game'.

To be fair, ITV have improved the F1 coverage. The lane interviews and features have vastly improved the sport.

The only big problem with ITV and sport is one problem: ADVERTS! No one likes them getting in the way. There used to be only 4 breaks during F1 coverage, the other week there were 9! IT's the same with football - shwoing brief highlights to make way for adverts. And why do they have the stats truck? No one likes it. It's a gimmick. Let the BBC handle it.

On Channel 4 - the cricket coverage is better handled on there (although its still boring!) But the adverts are in breaks when nothing happens so its better handled.

ITV - Channel 4 and Sky can do it properly. Why can't u? Because you've spent too much on getting rights and have to show more adverts to get your money back. Thats why!

Precisely! I want to see more of them but because of the adverts, I can't!

The viewing figures for ITV's new slot will still be vastly inferior to BBC's Match Of the Day programme in their old 10.30pm time slot, because when it comes to sport, BBC's coverage is vastly superior to ITV's.

ITV's version is punctuated with too many adverts, and blabbering on by Lynam and co, with less football than the BEEB.

BBC Scotland's Sportscene's coverage of Scottish Football is far superior than STV's Oldfirmsport (sorry, Scotsport) because they show far more widespread coverage of the whole SPL than STV's coverage where it's predominantly coverage of Rangers and Celtic, and to hell with the rest of the SPL by showing snippets of the other 10 teams. I suspect that it's exactly the same on ITV's premiership show with the original so-called big 5 from the 1980's - Liverpool, Manchester United, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham - (when they originally had exclusive rights to live action) taking up most of the show.

Oh God, do I have to go over this argument again. The adverts pay for the bloody programmes for goodness sake.

I've recently enjoyed the Premiership coverare. It is after 2 hours everything happens, and then I can go out afterwards and do what I want - instead of having to bugger up a night half-way through to catch the action.

The 9.25 edition on a Sunday sounds good to me though. The BBC were good with sport, yes, but there's no future for them in it, leave it to 'those who show adverts'.

Well it was usually about 7.30, but good point, you could video it! And anyway i'm still in bed at 9.30 on a sunday (but then again I don't like football so i'm not too bothered!).
