As I said in another thread, Mansfield is a really odd place in which regions you recieve. The "proper" region for here is Central East- but you have no hope of getting that terrestrially without a high-gain aerial and a booster. Depending on where you live, it's either Emley or Belmont. I get Emley perfectly on an indoor aerial, but Belmont is noisy. Loads of people have trouble getting Emley and get their signal from Belmont instead- which means no Channel 5. I know some people who get Yorkshire South from Sheffield as well. Of course, East Midlands is the default region on NTL & Sky.

At my parents place, purched on the hill behind Yeovil, with their ariel pointing at Mendip they get HTV West, HTV Wales (very watchable), Westcountry (bit fuzzy) and Meridian (very fuzzy).
Yeovil is one of those odd places that does not really feel part of any region as in on the border of 3, all of whos studios are at leat a good hour away. The town is mainly split between Westcountry and HTV as it is in a dip. In fact, depending which end of my parents village you are in effects the service you receive.... ans the confusion as to what happens when Westcountry goes digital is another topic in itself!!!

Oh the Irony, when thesedays you have whole sub-regions without studios in the region let alone an hour away.

I wonder which point in the country is furthest from the studio broadcasting to them?

Here in Hatfield (13 miles north of London) the correct region should be Carlton/LWT and BBC London. However Hertfordshire is on an overlap area in more ways than one.
The government cannot decide whether Hertfordshire is London, the South-East or East Anglia... technically I prefer Northern Home Counties but still.
I get Carlton/LWT/BBC1 London on Sky which apparently is correct although because the signals are so weak from Alexandra Palace we cannot pick up London through the aerial. We have had to turn it to Sandy Heath (Anglia West, BBC East West).
You'd think somewhere so close to the capital would be able to receive London regions!

I used to live in a part of Reading where I could receive Meridian West, Carlton/LWT, Central South and Meridian South.
Reading is on the border of Meridian West / London, so half of Reading receives Meridian West, and the other half receives London.
IMO, the whole of Reading should be in the Meridian West region, given that Meridian News West regularly features items from Reading, whereas London Today/Tonight hardly ever features Reading.

That's because London Today/Tonight don't care about the regions outside London (or more importantly) Central London. Where I live, our borough feels more attatched to Kent and I hate watching the (un)local news because it's always London, London, London... and Central London. I'd rather watch South East Today on BBC1 because they do quite a good news coverage and occasionally they would include mostly West Kent and also places inside the London boundary that Carlton/LWT neglect. If I were to live in Reading I would most likely watch Meridian West.

The whole of Reading is in the Meridian region (Hannington), it's just that London transmissions from Crystal Palace are easily receivable in the town, and remember CP transmissions pre date Hannington's by several years, so there is a lot of 'legacy' reception of London.

What Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire could do with is its own Local news..... I mean I live in St Albans and I hardly ever see stories relative to Hertfordshire on London Showbiz Tonight or On BBC Tower Hamlets London News!!!
Although we are in a quiet area.... we would end up with news similar to the Westcountry.... eg. Farmers arguing over land, Councils being blamed for ruining local parks//.//.///
