What If you are on the border of two regions, Which region do you recieve?

Depends which way you point your aerial - I've three aerials and can get three regions - though the novelty of it now is far less than it was 10 years ago considering there are very few regional variations!

The one with the strongest frequency? I'm supposed to be in ITV Anglia's reach but receive ITV London because I'm apparently closer to the city. But of course with Digital I can still have Anglia on anyway, not that I'd want to though.

Ah. Okay, thanks for explaining it to me!

Also, completley unrelated question: Will the Channel Islands go digital, even though they technically aren't part of the UK?

That's a tricky one alright Seamus. Confused Where I live is right slap bang on the border where Scottish & the old Grampian region meet. So, some suburbs of the town got Scottish, whereas the others got Grampian - of course both regions have now merged to become one.

Nice of you to bring that up by the way. Wink

I guess it depends on where you are, which Station is more relevant to you, and which station have others in your area previously watched. By the far the best example is North Wales, it's territory is claimed by both Granada and HTV. Up until 1982 HTV used to show Welsh language programmes, but mainly English speaking people in the area would point to Granada for the full English service and continue to do so to this very day, also considering the fact the signal from Winter Hill goes far and wide. Though people might do this now (I don't know anyone who has...) for Freeview, considering there's no ABC1 in Wales, and all they get is S4C instead, well you mever know, just a wild guess...

Though up until the mid 1990's our reception for the Welsh channels were rather clear, for stations such as HTV and S4C, which was useful in those days to watch Brookside at 10pm. Laughing

I have never been in such a case where I have 2 overlapping English regions, but which ever one is more relevant in your area is best. Though as said other than Regional News it's all pretty much the same thing.

It's not as noticable now they've standardised the BBCi bridges, but there was a technical quirk on Freeview which has always bugged me:

I have two aerials feeding into my TV - North West and Wales.

I could get both BBC regions on digital, but the BBCi bridge over BBC1 NW and BBC2 NW has always been the BBC Wales version. Never quite understood that!

its not their political status thats the problem - more their proximity to france and potential interference with french tv signals.

I know that if you live around the Alport Height area of Derbys, you can pick up Central West, Central East, Granada, Yorkshire/ Emley and Yorks/ Belmont (on a clear night from Alport Height you can actually see all four transmitters).

Can anyone beat five via analogue?!

In parts of Northants you can pick up Anglia, Central South/ East/ West. Can anyone beat four via analogue?!

Well, up in the hills here in the North East, in the early 90s I was able to receive Tyne Tees (North/South), Yorkshire (Emley/Sheffield), Anglia and Central (East?) clearly, and Granada on a good day, with the large aerial we had. On the night of Telethon '90 we also received LWT and TVS rather bizarrely.

Can't get much any more due to DTT which interferes with everything. It always frustrated me a little as a pres anorak that of all the stations I received, none apart from Granada (which wasn't very clear) had IVC by the time I was playing around. I think just about every other station on the network did at the time (1989/90), which was doubly irritating!!
