I think I am correct to say that the regional weather has always been recorded and transmitted from The Leeds Studios for Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees and Border weather for their individual broadcasts.
However, now on Granada Reports we have Jo Blythe and Fred Talbot presenting from the garden at the top of the Granada Studios in Manchester. In fact they even cover the breakfast and other forecasts during the day. Do I take it therefore that Leeds covers all but Granada weather as Jo has moved over to Manchester?
Also, are the breakfast forecasts recorded the night before? As our Fred had the same shirt on this morning as he did in last nights Granada Reports. Confused Confused

Fred & Jo do the Granada weather from Granada in Manchester. Jon Mitchell & Kerrie Gosney do the YTV weather from Leeds. Tyne Tees & Border is done from Gateshead by Phillippa Tomson & Alex Watson. So all of the respective regions produce their own weather (except Border, though obviously Border & TTTV will be merging shortly).

Hope that helps. Smile

Yes the GMTV forecasts are recorded the previous day

What if the forecast changes overnight, or if there is major weather event such as the recent heavy snow and an up to date forecast is needed, not what was predicted the previous night?

I was thinking that too - the other morning I watched the GMTV Wales news and the weather forcaster said "lots of snow has already fallen overnight" - now I know there was little doubt we would have snow on that particular day but they would have looked silly if that hadnt been the case!

It wouldnt be feasible to get the presenters in at 6am tho to record forcasts for the GMTV bulletins.

Is the weather at the end of the 6pm Granada bulletin now live or just recorded? Some of it is presented from the roof whilst its dark (but it could easily be recorded earlier) and often Jo is in the studio, talks to the presenters live then does the forecast. Surely they don't make her stay just for a 2 second talk? Confused

Not necessarily- just because it doesn't happen near you doesn't mean it hasn't happened Wink Thats just the way they get around it. I'm sure you've watched a regional forecast before where the presenter has said a certain type of weather has occured, you've looked out of the window and theres nothing of the sort.

It'll be recorded, there's no point doing it live, and what do you mean 'make her stay', it's her job.

Because if she just sticks around to say "well its been another mild day, lets take a look at tonight, heres the forecast" when she recorded a weather report hours before then its a little pointless Confused

you are aware these people often do other things in between their stints on air? they're not just locked in a cupboard or lavished with cakes

But for all they knew, not a single flake of snow might have fallen in the entire region Wink

The bmibaby sponserships just say 'itv regional weather is sponsored by..." not 'Granada weather in assoc... anymore. Is this just on itv local or is it the same with the main bulitins?
