The following year, when Channel Five bought it, ITV began phasing it out by dropping the lunchtime episodes, but not in all regions. I think Central were one of those that stuck with lunchtimes.
I do remember Granada dropped the lunchtime showing, I think it may have been about Spring 2000 when they did, they also took about a 6 week break around this time as they had caught up with Australia, they instead had L!VE TV's Lie Detector in it's place, but the production values of the ITV version were higher than those of L!VE.
I'm sure ITV2 showed some mid-90's H&A after ITV had stopped in Summer 2000, although feel free to correct me.

I remember that being at 5pm: Lie Detector. Im sure of it!
I have heard that in the 70s, ATV never showed The Brady Bunch (which I admit to watching re-runs of on Sky in the early 90s), but wasn't the series shown in nearly all of the other regions? I am not sure how many US comedies were not networked in the 70s.
In the post-Crossroads, pre-Home and Away period, "Winner Takes All" ran from Monday to Saturday at 5.15 to begin with. This slot was also used for some regions to show "Blockbusters" - that's what I recall UTV doing at the time, anyway.
The 6.30 slot was filled by "Emmerdale Farm" on Wednesday and Thursday on most of the network, except Anglia and Central (according to Wikipedia, they put it at Tuesday and Thursday at 19.00, which the network switched to in January 1990).
Some regions (including Thames) showed "Connections" on Tuesdays at 6.30 (possibly the Madeley version).

with Emmerdale I dare say that did not happen in scotland I believe,
with Winner takes all this would have been from around April and Blockbusters would have finished until September.

Just reading some of the earlier posts about Prisoner Cell Block H, just before the showing of the very last episode, Grampian spared no expense, and the continuity announcer ( can't remember who it was ) had a chat with Bea on the phone on air!
One of my earliest regional Grampian memories was a Saturday morning children's Gaelic show called Cuir Cah ( excuse my spelling and anyone who speaks the language can correct me! ). It featured cartoons presumably in Gaelic, but I'm talking cartoons of the East European variety not your Disney fare! I presume the title had something to do with drawing a circle, because the two presenters used to chant " Cuir Cah, cuir cah, cuir cah " until the cartoon " faded in ". BBC Scotland eventually responed by showing " Mag is Mog " which I believe featured Runrig nearly every week, on a Saturday pre Swap Shop / Superstore.

AT LAST some one has been able to explain what on earth this show was about, I keep seeing this listed most Saturday mornings 78 - 80 at 09.05am for 25mins.
I think this was why Channel TV decided to take the ITV feed from TVS from TSW, because of TSW's baffling schedule decisions!!
The main reason why Channel changed from TSW to TVS was because of Crossroads.
No, it was because TVS gave Channel a better deal selling national advertising for them, the Crossroads thing was just an awkward side issue, which Channel solved by use of one of their U-Matic VTRs, with special technical dispensation from the IBA
Changing the feed from TSW to TVS wasn't exactly trivial, it required the IBA to add a special beam from Rowridge, build another SABRE receiving site at Cherbourg (to replace the one on Alderney, that received Stockland Hill) .
It would have been cheaper, if it was only because of Crossroads, to provide CTV with a proper broadcast quality VTR to do the time shift.

One of Ulster's other "regional variations" habits in the early to mid 1980s was to regularly not bother opening-up until 12.00 during school holidays (except on actual Bank Holidays), or about 10.30 on Saturdays, and 11.00 on Sunday's (unless they were doing the "Morning Worship" in which case they would open at 10.00 and show the worship.
I remember taking this up with them and they said it was because their staff had to take holidays, too!
Clearly the only other ITV people to take holidays were those in the Channel Islands, and no one in England, Wales and Scotland did.

Well I didn't know that, I was convinced it was about Crossroads, but thanks your information.

What was so special about a certain type of VTR machine that needed special permission from the IBA?
