ITV Regional Idents (the lack of)

I notice today that we have had the treat of those celebrity introductions into every programme excluding the News today on ITV 1.
I heard Scottish Paul intro the News and do a voiceover at the end of This Morning. Is he actually there or are they pre-recording the daytime stuff now?

As far as I'm aware there are -

Love
Romance
Happiness Kids
Pride
Boxing
Crowd
Sadness

It was much better when we had the local ITV company logo with ITV written underneath just like in the Carlton hearts era. Those idents really were great, Carlton weren't that bad really. They did wonders with ITC library restoring Strange Report, UFO and Captain Scarlet amoungst others.

Yes and closed down Broad Street Studios, took away the Central Cake forever, ruined ITV from 1993 onwards, yes CARLTON should be forgiven, not!

But at least their idents and presentation was first class even though they forgot the most crucial of things quality programming for ITV,

I wonder how Red Bee came up with stupid ideas in the first place, even if ITV1 showed all the idents, it wouldn't matter would it, they are all stupid and boring!

I've only seen it once, but the sad ident is actually really moving! Really slow piano music, woman crying in bed, god it had me reaching for the Kleenex!

People moan about the current ITV1 idents, but I think they're pretty good. Agreed, however, that they need to show more of a variety of them, be that by creating more or whatever.

I read that as one big long sentence and interpreted it as some sort of bizarre hallucination...Well, I'd certainly freak out if I saw a piece of toast going up the stairs.


AFAIK, ident-wise, and this is mostly guesswork on the names:

- Mum/Tree hugging (Love)
- Boy bringing toast; motorbikes (Pride)
- Kids jumping from box; startled cows (Surprise)
- Forest walk; dog in car; rolling down hill (Fun ? )
- Eating cake; dog wagging tail; pigs in muck (Happiness)
- Man being laughed at; bloke nodding off (Embarrassment)
- Bloke holding rose possibly stood-up (err... Disappointment ?) [NB: Why just the 1 scene here?]
- Crying; end of sad movie in cinema (Sadness)
- Person sitting exam (Fear/Anxiety) [Will probably never be used]

Sport, which I can't begin to give names to:
- Ident v1 ending with boxer celebrating with title
- Ident v2 with celebrating footy crowd
- Ident v3 - Bloke with taped wrists(?) ending with the crowd again, but different angle IIRC

Thats, 11 idents plus 1 unused, I think.

Not far off. The idents are: (the bits in brackets denote the hold on the final scene)

Love (tree huggers)
Embarrass (bloke asleep on train)
Happiness Kids (kids rolling down hill)
Happiness Pigs (pigs in mud)
Pride (guy polishing motorbike)
Surprise (cows outside tent)
Sadness (guy sat in cinema - used rarely)
Fear/Anticipation (never used, features sitting exams/looking through door cracks, also reuses shots from Romance and Sport Boxing)
Romance (guy with rose - only one scene for flexibility if a shorter ident is needed or longer talk time)
Sport Boxing (boxing scene)
Sport Crowd (football crowd)

And of course the sombre ident, which is basically the break bumper.

They are emotional rubbish, who wants to start crying before the programme even starts!

No wonder ITV1 is going down the pan!

The idents are absoutely vile

ITV spent a fortune filming them in South Africa, the pink shoes ident is a 'tribute' to their head of marketing.

They are completely irrelevant, look appaling and are of absolutely no relevance whatsoever to the 'typical itv viewer' who 'inspired the feel' according to the marketing brief.

Maybe ITV should do some research into exactly who the 'typical ITV viewer' is, and brand accordingly.... but then again maybe that would be too much to expect.
