There was one on last night at 11pm... and on Tuesday... they're using them loads recently, what you on about? Even Granada Reports has been advertised!

You'd be forgiven for not noticing Granada beneath the ITV1 logo.

I don't think ITV has any care for the regions - if it didn't have to have local news it would ditch it tomorrow.

If it could carry cash making 'phone-in shows 24/7 - it would from tomorrow.

It has lost touch with the viewers.

I personally think it time to say "ITV - the regions are opening up to tender again and you'll have to fight for each one!"

TV Regional companies should start their own channels on digital, like West Midlands TV and London TV, can't see why they can't produce a really good regional service, if Premiership football clubs can, then I can't see why not.

If you have Sky take a look at Channel M (Ch 203), it's a Local TV station for Manchester, it's owned by the Guardian Media Group, and it's pretty good. They seem to be increasing the amount of Local material available too, it proves it can be done on a shoestring budget. Though it's based on the US/Canadian model of Local TV rather than regional, though never the less it's worth a look.

I was watching ITV1 Wales yesterday, and noticed they still have the word "Wales" on every ident and even the breakbumper... sadly though its just superimposed on the idents and continuity is from London...

Why did Ofcom allow ITV to shed so much regional output? I think it's appalling that the channel has shed nearly all signs of regional individuality and basically become a clone of the BBC.

It's superimposed on network idents; you can tell as the word "Wales" often appears to early or too late, or not at all. Regional idents appear to be different, and regional continuity is recorded I believe. The word "Wales" also appears to be bigger than neighbouring regional idents (ie Granada and Central), or that could be perhaps because its a shorter word.

Over here in ITV Lon- I mean Carlton/LWT there are no regional idents at all before local programming. I never watch the regional news either because it's all London, London, London and the name ITV1 London would surely p iss anyone off who lives in an area with no coverage or somewhere outside Greater London like Redhill.

Besides before the digital switchover there should be some allocations where residents outside the Greater London boundary should have the opportunity to receive another ITV station for example:

Dartford, Sevenoaks, Redhill and the surrounding areas should fully receive BBC South East and Meridian SE.

Towns outside or nearby the SW section of the M25 should also recieve BBC South and Meridian South without any problem.

And places on the north east pockets of the M25 and e.t.c. should receive BBC East and Anglia as a second option.

Yes and often the word Wales remains on screen after the ident has finished so its obviously just added. We get the same announcement as the network 99%of the time so no mention of ITV1 Wales just ITV1. However when ITV1 Wales opt out of the network even if they are showing non regional programming (e.g. an episode of the Planets Funniest Animals on a Sunday afternoon) they say ITV1 Wales then. Occasionally the announcer will promote a regional programme coming up later in the day before a network programme but that doesnt happen very often.

Westcountry Live and Westcountry News NEVER have any ident of any kind before it. I would guess this is the norm in all areas of the country. ITV must see it not fit for the local news not to even have an announcement. What great days they were when we had local continuity, but as the saying goes you don't know how lucky you are until something is gone. Chris Langmore and Peter Griffin were great friendly announcers. I always remember after the Evening News we used to get a " Good evening from us here in Plymouth and welcome to this evening on Westcountry or Carlton as it was in the later days. You always knew you were in good company. Now you are lucky to get any emotional continuity, ironic realy when ITV's current idents are based on emotions... Rolling Eyes
