central seem to have given up on regional idents completely and today's central extra had a "itv" end cap instead of "itv central".
is this the case throughout itv plc regions? or just central?

Well I'm certain I saw a local ident in the west last week -- mind you it might've been two weeks ago, I forget.
Either way I've definitely seen one this month. It is all rather slapdash isn't it.
Both HTV regions still seem to like sticking a local endcap after their short news bulletins too.

Oh right, sorry about that. I think Ive seen an "ITV" endcap on some of Tyne Tees programmes once or twice come to think of it.
Before now I've seen a generic ITV regional-style endcap used when a programme has been co-produced by more than one region - there have been a couple of series shared between London, Central and Anglia.

Yes, but tvmercia is saying that this new Central Extra show had a plain ITV endcap, with no regional name at all.

A few weeks back, the end of Countdown was changed to just a "Granada" accreditation, rather than "Granada Yorkshire", yet things like "Granada Yorkshire", "Granada Manchester" etc still survive on some of their ITV1 programmes.
The ex-Carlton regions never had, say, "Granada Central" or whatever, but just the 'vanilla' version ("Granada" ). Only the ex-GMG regions got any kind of suffix on the new endcaps.
I notice that the "London"-suffix one (e.g. on This Morning and The Paul O'Grady Show) was short-lived, and has now been replaced by the 'vanilla' one.
I wonder if the remaining "Granada" encap suffixes ( even "...Manchester" ) are for the chop on ITV1, just like on Countdown.
It's a shame that the "...Yorkshire" suffix has only quite recently been dropped from Countdown's endcap, given what's now happened re: Mr Whiteley.
It would have been nice to see the Y-word reinstated for these final five episodes this week, for old times sake, given Mr Whiteley's "Mr Yorkshire TV" kind of status.

On Granada now they hardly ever use the regional ident, and the ident before regional programming eg Tues and Thurs at 7.30pm. The ident just advertises a network programme later on in the evening.
Also at the end of regional programmes the itv Granada logo is shown, which doewsn't make much sense as many of itv's network shows have Granada endcaps, with no mention of itv plc.
Also there is no longer an ident or end cap at the start/end of Granada News, is this the same in other regions?
On trailers for Granada programmes the guy doing the voice over sounds out of place saying "on itv1" rather than "on Granada."
If it is a regional promotion, why not use the regional name?

This Morning never had a Granada London endcap though. The programme is a Granada Television Production (originally from Liverpool) and only LWT productions get Granada London endcaps I think.
Also the former Carlton owned regions dont make any network programs anyway.
