Welcome to TV Forum! Most (if not all) of us on here are consigned to the fact that regional identity on the ITV Network, as we once knew it, is dead. The federal system will not return as Granada and Carlton bought up 11 out of the 14 regional franchises and merged to create ITV plc. So the only form of regional identity we now get in is from the announcer before regional programming; we don't even get barely readable text underneath the logo anymore. As disappointing as it is, we just have to live with the fact that regional idents are gone and are highly unlikely to return.

If they can automatically key Wales onto the idents on the HTV Wales feed from London then there is no reason why they couldn't add Yorkshire, Granada, Westcountry etc

Except for it being pointless.
I don't know about you but I really don't need a little caption before every programme to tell me where I live..... and that's the only purpose it would serve!

Yeah it is pointless. Its not the same having the word Wales put under the ITV1 on idents as it would be having proper regional idents again. Makes me wonder why they bother doing it. The only time the announcer says the words ITV1 Wales is before regional programmes, the rest of the time its mainly the same announcement as the other regions get.

We dont even get an ident before regional news anymore - a lot of bulletins are during or just after the ITV national News, but some bulletins like Wales Tonight or at weekends could have an ident before but they dont bother.

Is anyone else bored of the current ITV look already? The same music on each ident is very boring! I kind of long for the celebrity idents to return.
One would hope Michael Grade would look at the whole on screen presentation of the station - what we need is a set of idents like the old LWT flying captions with the smoke effect and trumpet fanfare - the set before the spinning hearts plus announcers with passion.
I end up watching stv now.
