The only people who keep sounding off that there is a lack of studio space in London are members on here - until channels / production houses / producers say the same then there is no issue?

You are joking? Pretty much every Production Manager / Unit Manager / Production Exec scheduling studio shows shot in London will tell you what a pain it is.

Converted film studios, theatres, rehearsal spaces? They aren't TV studios...

Do you have the list of productions that have not gone ahead because of a lack of studio space?

Since the change of production space in London shows are being shot in longer blocks to reduce the number of turnarounds, and more shows are being shot in less-than-ideal locations that would never have been used were 'real' studios still available.

Shows are often now re-scheduled on multiple occasions due to lack of studio availability. So in the short-term - many shows have not gone ahead, as planned originally, because of a lack of studio space.

Riverside seem to be having problems opening their new studios, does anyone know why? It was planned for early 2019, then summer 2019, and still on their website it says they will open in 2019, well there are only two and a half months left of 2019, shouldn't it be up and running by now?

That will be me then. Rolling Eyes There is a lack of affordable, flexible studio space.
Poland is very handy for this, though it saved having to build a set.

Oddly enough I was thinking about Riverside the other day. Yes you're right there's no update about when the centre or the TV studio opens. Broadcast reported in January that the TV studio was taking bookings for August and that's it. The new series of Celebrity Juice, one of their old regular bookings, is being made at Elstree

15-20 miles out isn't too much of an issue and presumably significantly cheaper too..

Yes I thought that until the first time I went out to Elstree... dear me how woefully unsuitable compared to TV Centre's former facilities.

At least Elstree's walkable from the train station, which is not the case with Pinewood where a few shows moved to.

Although TVC was over the road and blatant, whereas with Elstree you need to walk through the delight that is Borehamwood high street and it's not obvious where it is.

Isn’t BT upgrading their facilities to attract people to the Here East studios in Stratford. Not as convenient as the London Studios or Television Centre but plenty of transport links and modern tech.

Living not to far I'd say more convenient than TVC in terms of public transport and road distance not that much further from Central London

I had a feeling that had been made overseas, the surnames in upper case on the credits looked unusual, then I noticed a lot of the names didn't look too be British.

I'm guessing it's a Total Wipeout setup with lots of countries making a version on the same set?

It is indeed, they've done a few foreign versions in Poland complete with Polish audiences having to be prodded to laugh at the right moments!

I wonder how many years ITV Daytime have signed with BBC Studioworks for the use of Studios TC2 and TC3? Was it a five year deal originally, as ITV had planned to move back the the south bank in around 2023. I wonder how long they will remain at Television Centre?

Doesn't say any deal length specifics, but both BBC Studioworks and ITV Studios seem happy with the arrangement.
Odd to think that currently, this must be the most amount of live studio television per week ever produced at Television Centre in it's history - and it's all for 'the other side'!
