Stephen Mulherns got a new gameshow as well 'Go for It' which sounds like You Bet.
So perhaps he could be ruled out of Blankety Blank too.

Were Su Pollard or Lisa Goddard ever a-listers though? I don't mind how famous/cheap the celebs are just as long as there's a bunch of them who can have a laugh and joke with the host. As for the host, it does need someone who is humourous and can be deprecating of the format. The usual ITV roll-call would come across as playing it too straight except for Keith (who personally I don't mind but agree ITV need to look further afield).
Be nice if they could get Paul back, this time as himself. Or Jack Dee - his shtick would work well.

It's going to be a z-list (i.e. TOWIE) filled load of crap, I can see it now.

I wonder if this would be post watershed similar to Through the Keyhole. It does need a host who is funny but also not afraid of ripping the format to shreds like Lily Savage did. I do think Keith Lemon would work well but it'd be a good one for someone like Alan Carr although I imagine he couldn't do it because of his golden handcuffs deal with Channel 4

I would have put Hi-De-Hi era Su Pollard many lists ahead of the Towie cast.
But I would imagine it would be a similar calibre of guest to the rebooted Celebrity Squares - in fact if they are clever, record them in adjacent studios at the same time, do several episodes a day and use the same guests in different combinations.

Yes, she was one of the most famous comic actresses in the country at the time.
That's not to say it shouldn't have any Towie types, in fact traditionally Blankety Blank had a seat for them... bottom right was the 'pretty but thick' seat which was next to the cheeky comedian seat which was bottom middle.
As long as they're treated like the airheads they are they will work fine on the show

Bottom left was for the upstanding classly person was it not? Barbara Dickenson or liz dawn.

If one or two guests in a few episodes are TOWIE fodder, you can tell already how they'll be. They don't know/understand the show and will play extra dumb for laughs. I can even see ITV doing something like... a TOWIE special *shudders*
Oh, and being post-watershed would help this, but I can see it being the same as Celeb Squares and it will get a 8pm-ish timeslot.

Yes,
There was a set line up of bookings on Blankety Blank:
top left - witty funnyman: Barry Cryer, Willie Rushton or John Junkin
Top middle - funny woman: sue pollard or Janet Brown
Top right: personality: Patrick Moore, Magnus Pike
Bottom left: glamorous actress
Bottom middle:wacky funnyman: Kenny Everett, Lynn Bennett, Paul Daniels
Bottom left: dumb blonde: Sandra Dickenson or Lorraine Chase
Though the episode where they booked Johnny Rotten for the top right seat didn't go all that well:
