That is a really good idea. Only thing is Scottish, Grampian, Ulster, GMG and Carlton would never go for it, so that leaves us with, um, Border. Oh, and Channel.

animation here, only a quick animation to show how the regional symbol could fit with my ITV1 logo
That is excellent, but I don't think any of the broadcasters would go for it due to the simple fact they don't want to be in the shadow of ITV1. Their logo would
have
to be bigger than ITV's.

The last bit where the itv bit slides up and down would make an ideal break bumper -- great animation!
The only way this re-branding would be a success is if all idents across the network were standardised. For instance, the ITV1 logo fades away, and in comes the local logo with the announcer saying something like: 'You're watching Meridian on ITV1'.
Unfortunately, we know the growing element of corporate activity in regional broadcasters will not allow this, i.e. (in English) people like Scottish and GMG will never give in!
It's bad enough as it is - without 'ITV 1'

thats what will be changing, regional broadcasts will have to fall in line or loose their contract. Thats why the itv network members are planing a merger.
But companies can only form so large a part of the ITV Network. That's why HTV was in the middle of all this business between Carlton Comms, United N&M and GMG.

broadcast has updated their ITV1 article to include this image!
The only problem I can see with this is that ITV isn't button '1' it's button '3'. So it doesn't work in the same way as BBC 1 or BBC 2 does it. Also remember when ITV tried to rebrand as Channel 3, it needs to be more successful than that.

True, but from visits to Greece (and of course Andrew's site!), they have Ant1, which doesn't seem to be on button 1....
