Just a thought but maybe ITV needs some 'lively' idents for Saturday night - the takeaway ident was used before Ant & Dec - good synergy for 'takeaway' but the visuals and music were dull. The Bus ride ident was used into Take Me Out - again dull music and didn't suit the mood of the show.

In terms of happier sounding idents, they do have pugwash, swimmers, and candy floss that all would suit entertainment programmes well. I suppose in this evenings choices they've gone for something that is dark like the current evenings, and tried to match them up to the programmes as best that they can.

Yes I have said a similar thing before. Very few of the current idents scream "entertainment" which ITV does a lot of. I thought they learned this with the last rebrand when then introduced the Dodgems ident as they didn't have anything that suited big entertainment shows.

Like you said, the music in some of the current idents is very dull. I wish more of the idents had upbeat music like in Pugwash, I love that music. Hopefully when spring comes they will introduce some more seasonal idents, bringing a bit more colour and brightness.

By "takeaway ident", do you mean the Fish 'n Chips ident?

The Bus ride ident was used into Take Me Out - again dull music and didn't suit the mood of the show.

According to The Ident Gallery, the Bus ride ident is called Bus Bunny.

I don't think everyone here is able to remember the names of all the idents, so they're trying to describe them as best as possible.

Not sure if this has been brought up but itv have a 'next' banner at the bottom of the screen? I thought they scrapped that with the rebrand?

Have ITV used a menu before since the rebrand or was tonight just after DOI the first time?
Quite liked it, the transitions to and from where smooth and the music was nice.

First time I've seen it, and yes there is something refreshing about the smoothness of the transitions.

You have to wonder how all the transitions, ECPs etc are really smooth on ITV, yet BBCs ECP, even after several years, still has that little jump just before the credits get squashed.

Does anyone know why it always does that on BBC?

I think they fixed that issue on BBC One a few years ago, and I remember around that time that someone explained that it was to do with the fact that it wasn't easy to match up the moment the ECP starts with the same time in the actual credits, hence the jump back in vision, despite audio continuing normally,
