What irritates me is the GMG North purple endcaps from a bit later were stunning, with the spinning G logo, TTTV and Chevrons in the background. They were all clearly from the same company but worked nicely as individual logos.

During the last two days of December 2012 I recorded as many ITV3 and ITV4 idents as I could get (I took advantage of the fact they didn't have Xmas presentation) and then set my HDD/DVD recorder to get as many ITV1 and ITV2 idents as possible during the first fortnight in January. The weekend of 12 & 13 January I also tried to get whatever CITV idents I could on my HDD/DVD recorder.
My goal was to get all the pre-changeover range of idents on ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV. For your information I actually looked at The Ident Gallery as a means of finding out the full range of idents on ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4, i.e. checklists of what to get. That's why I posted a message here asking why ITV1 didn't seem to be showing Fountains, Boat (Lake) or Lanterns, and another message here asking if ITV2 were still showing Couple or Neon City. So The Ident Gallery was quite handy to me there, I was able to find out what was missing from my video recording collection. It was just unfortunate that you didn't have a list of the idents / other pres that CITV channel was using at the time on The Ident Gallery, so I had to just record whatever I could get off CITV and leave it at that. It would have been useful to have had a CITV page tehn so I could have used it as an ident checklist just like ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4.
Simply because CITV has no interest for me and hasn't done since I was a child - similarly there's no coverage of CBBC or CBeebies. However, as part of the major rebrand for ITV I decided to actually bother for this occasion.

Oh yes of course, I forgot about Border, shame GMG didn't reinstate the logo on the hearts when they were still going (or did they buy Border off of Capital after the names were gone, I can't recall?

Fair enough if the Network put it together as they'd be clueless about GMG North's plans to rebrand their stations... but why the Hearts ident was never updated with the newer chevron (not even in 2001) strikes me as very odd.
Also, is there a solid reason as to why Border dropped their logo in 1999? (Apologies if this has already been answered, but I didn't notice any explanation about it on previous pages...)

They cannot have been unaware of the new local idents or they would've used the typeface from the 1996-1999 idents instead of Bank Gothic.
