I never understood why Tyne Tees's generic ident wasn't updated. They had no excuse not to when they needed editing a year later to change ITV to ITV1. Thames and Yorkshire managed to re-edit the 1989 ident in 1990, so I can't see why the same couldn't be done for Tyne Tees in 2000.

It would seem that the Yorkshire regional idents were supposed to be full time idents. What's interesting though is that whilst they made so many of them, they hadn't got around to making any for Granada or Tyne Tees. Maybe the Yorkshire ones were to be released first and then they'd move onto one of the other stations.

They did get some of it done, for Granada, Tyne Tees and IIRC LWT as well - I've seen examples - online in the case of TTTV and LWT, and on screen in the case of Granada, where revolving blue and white logos pertinent to each area were used as the end animation on local trailers.

What irritates me is the GMG North purple endcaps from a bit later were stunning, with the spinning G logo, TTTV and Chevrons in the background. They were all clearly from the same company but worked nicely as individual logos.

Agreed, they were also done for Meridian, LWT & Anglia and I thought they looked great, wasn't there a rumour that idents were also produced & due to be used but in the end never were?

I saw the "scraping ice off the car window" ident on ITV last night at the start of both Dancing On Ice shows (main show and skate-off).

According to the Ident Gallery, there are now about 20 ITV(1) idents. Will they all be used in rotation, I'd like to collect them all on my HDD/DVD recorder.

At last The Ident Gallery have actually bothered to exhibit the current range of CITV idents, just like the other 4 ITV channels. I'd like to know why they never exhibited previous CITV idents.

Why the hell is it such a big deal?

I'd like to know why your posts continue to be entertained, tbh.

Simply because CITV has no interest for me and hasn't done since I was a child - similarly there's no coverage of CBBC or CBeebies. However, as part of the major rebrand for ITV I decided to actually bother for this occasion.

For me, The Ident Gallery is my hobby - a personal interest in the subject matter which I've put online to share. In the past it's been likened to an on-line stamp collection which I'm quite happy about.

But what it isn't is a personal service to you to provide you with what content you deem necessary.

There was rather an appropriate ident at 5am today - a road sweeper cleaning the gutters, just as they would at that time. That it was for The Jeremy Kyle Show just made it for me...

I feel I must apologise for the length of that post. I didn't realise it was so long but there's so much about that presenation era that fascinates me and so many loose ends that I'd like to know the answer to.

Why apologise! Posts like your previous one are a joy to read, stir up many memories and show the passion many of us on here share for TV Pres.
