Better than "well this is embarrassing" which some web developers think is funny for some reason.
This one makes my blood boil. Stop being so bloody informal! Your website's not working, just apologise and stop trying to be my friend. Another one is when Google Chrome asks whether you want it to translate a page. The options are "Translate" and "Nope". ugh!
I can live with "If you can see this...". Although it doesn't entirely make sense in this context (ITV+1), it's roughly analagous to "if this message is on the screen instead of the programme from an hour ago..."
I'd go for North and South. It's not great but better than East and West.
I concurr.
Neither "east/west" nor "north/south" are an entirely accurate desciption of the two ITV West Country sub-regions, as they are actually physically "southwest/northeast" in relation to each other. However, such "diagonal" compass point words would make for horribly clunky sub-regional suffixes.
"North/south" seems a far better and truer description because (A) someone travelling between, say, Bristol and Plymouth is surely certain to regard their journey as being more of a northbound/southbound one, than an eastbound/westbound one, and (B) given that the main bit of the region name already has the word "West" within it, the "west" or "east" suffixes seem, respectively, like either a tautology or an oxymoron.
It would be interesting to see if old HTV West forumers consider Devon & Cornwall as to the south or the west. Likewise in reverse for Westcountry forumers.
Continuing the discussion about ITV West and Westcountry, I too have noticed the new set-up:
Former HTV West area: West Country (East)
Former Westward/TSW/Westcountry area: West Country (West)
What better names could they have come up with though? This is a rather awkward case ITV News Westcountry would be fine for the former Westward/TSW/Westcountry area, but could they really say ITV News HTV West for the former HTV West area?
Seeing as it hasn't been known as HTV West for over a decade, I don't see why you would even suggest that as an option.
ITV News West could cover both regions as a brand really. More appropriate than shoe-horning Bristol into the west country. (Before anyone says, I know traditionally you could consider Bristol as the west country, but never before for media purposes)
The only way to solve these so called problems with naming local news output is to simply name is all "ITV News Local" - with probably Wales and London being the exceptions.
Also just to note as well as rebranding the news the promos in Wales are now advertising shows on "ITV Cymru Wales" - but only verbally - nothing on the promo itself.
Both Corrie and Emmerdale need it to air at the start of the titles and not with the show logo. It's hard to see it on Emmerdale's and looks very slapped on on Corrie.
And if Corrie is using the new ITV font over its own serif face for the writer/director credits, Emmerdale should too.

Hmm... I presume that was an earlier draft. I think it looks a little better with the text underneath. However, it also looks like there's a lot of clutter compared to the ones we've seen used on-air.
Despite the branding nightmare of the regional news, on itv.com/granada/, still shows as Granada News instead of Granada Reports - similar for other regions.
