I don't think it's quite the right thread for this debate George, but I disagree entirely. I'm not a fan of STV, but in terms of their branding and idenity of Channel 3 in Scotland, through their own idents, bumpers, promo endboards, regional news etc, they have a good, consistent look.
I'd like to see them use a few more idents from the stock they have, and some of the homegrown ads for STV Player do look a bit amateur, but in terms of content they are largely pumping out exactly the same as ITV.

On top of that there been pumping out what ITV should have been doing for years. I disagree aswell stv should stay away from ITV. all this over 3 hours of opts a week.,.

If Scotland become independent, then that would complicate things further
Not necessarily. The Channel Islands and Isle of Man are not part of the UK.
Well thought I'd put a view across from a Scottish prospective (My own opinion) of course. ITV's rebrand is fantastic. the music and content of the ident's are great along with the sharpness of the new ITV News.
For me today sets out or indeed re sparks the urgent and needed debate for ITV to buy out STV. STV for me have a can't be bothered attitude and it's about time that someone ends that. They could do a lot better, obvious comparisons can be made between BBC Scotland and STV and it makes for pretty grim reading for STV.
Now that ITV have made a bit of money maybe they can buy STV and give us Scottish viewers a bit of a fresh start and a broadcaster that can be bothered in making content for their channel

I've got a screensaver that looks like that.
All in all though a much richer looking set of channels and brands than the previous incarnation.

Just seen this video covering the whole rebrand on youtube
Wonder if they will show an edited version of this on TV... though I guess if they were we would have seen it already.

There be a few people grabbing that video

So far I've seen the following new idents:
ITV: hot air balloon, dog in a sink being washed, swimmers
ITV2: lady with lion, supermarket trolley
CITV: Crane with magnet on end of the jib
Looking at the screen grabs of the ITV3 idents, they seem a bit bland and dull to me. The old ones e.g. Woman, Thread, Shell etc. were much better and more distinctive.

TV
On the bottom right would look much better.
I think the DOG would be better off down the bottom, at least for the main channel.

How odd, don't think I've seen a channel go out in 14:9 before!
Oops, yeah they need to fix the ARC.
