The GMG hearts idents themselves were pretty decent, just let down by the end animation and a real shame they didn't use the variations in music we later heard in the unseen versions of the idents. For me though it was the colour that just didn't really work - if they'd used a purple and white and something similar to the GMG endcaps that followed a little later it may have looked a lot better.

Not strictly programming but I’m amazed that Ofcom still allow those ridiculous word search competition adverts from Churchcastle to air, and that ITV still allow them to purchase airtime. They’ve just shown them in 60 second slots in the last three consecutive breaks on This Morning, and the entry fee is now £12 to enter. Clearly preying on the vulnerable.

Not seen them at all but doesn't sound great. Would fall under the ASA rather than OFCOM I imagine so they'll probably ban the ad about six months after the ad campaign has finished.

And also, whilst I hate these type of breakfillers and would like to see them rid off from our screens, right now, ITV isn't going to pass on the opportunity to take any shillings for space in between the programmes it can.

If the T's and C's - no matter how distasteful and explotative they are - are clear, legal and legible then, sadly, no broadcasting or advertising codes have been broken.

If you get a chance, have a look at their website. Their "22+ page" puzzle book is a bargain price of £16.50 per fortnightly issue. In return you're guaranteed the prize of a tat piece of jewellery that wouldn't look out of place at an amusement arcade. And that's just the start of the fun...

Why would anyone pay £16.50 for a 22 page puzzle book when you can buy 100 page puzzle books for a couple of quid in the newsagents

They wouldn’t. The company evidently runs another scam, this time a freephone competition whereby entering you receive a free copy of this wonderful puzzle book, most likely not realising you’ve agreed to pay £16.50 fortnightly for the next editions. This is all, as pointed out, perfectly legal although morally abhorrent.

I understand ITV will likely be struggling to find advertisers but to agree to promote this type of crap is highly irresponsible of them. I don’t think that’s particularly an excuse either as this sort of rubbish has been going on for years.
