I'm not sure it matters when it was axed. They've announced the cancellation now. It was probably on the 'rest' list like Family Fortunes, Through the Keyhole, The Cube, Big Star's Little Star, Ninja Warrior, X Factor etc.
But dating shows in this era of Love Island don't really work anymore so they've killed it.
Big Star’s Little Star was another show that had its last series sat on the shelf for an eternity before it aired, over a year I believe.
Seems to be a thing at ITV, Rolling in It was filmed last April but apparently isn’t airing until Q3. The last series of civilian Catchphrase was sat there for about 18 months. Looks like that might be another one on the ‘rest’ list, they haven’t filmed any new ones since November 2017. Only seems to be celebrity episodes now.
There does seem to be a bit of a shake up going on at ITV entertainment though. They’ve got more new formats than they’ve launched in a while this year (The Masked Singer, John Bishop at The Weekend, Beat The Chasers, Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow, Rolling in It) and seem to be actively looking for the Autumn. Naturally that means they need to make room so some of the old shows have gone. The only surprising one, if it is gone, is Ninja Warrior as the ratings were still pretty good, it’s different to their other shows and they’re opening all those parks. Seems a bit of a waste if that one doesn’t come back. But it was the right call to lose the others.
Speaking of Family Fortunes, it’s probably about time for a reboot. It’s been off air for five years now. With a new host of course, Vernon Kay hasn’t been seen on ITV since the ill fated Drive in 2016 and seems to have fallen from grace.
