How The Xtra Factor got axed and BGMT didn’t, I’ll never know.


BGMT is far better, because it doesn't take itself too seriously- Mulhern is a great live presenter. Xtra Factor changed its presenter(s) every year, so never really managed to get a fanbase that stuck. Also, the humour from the hosts on Xtra Factor was extremely forced usually, while Mulhern is naturally funny, in my opinion.

I agree there should be some consistency. It should either use the old names (for nostalgia purposes), or the current names, but not a mish-mash of both.

Speaking of which, the ITV logo needs updating.

I guess really the likes of ITV2 stand up on their own now and aren't so reliant on pulling viewers over from a parent brand, though really when you think about it only The X Factor has really dropped it's spin-off in recent years.

The Bake Off has a spin-off show presented by Jo Brand as well.

I've always loved the Countdown Extra sketch, does a brilliant job of taking the piss out of everything that's wrong with these spin off shows. And the fed up and sarcastic Des as the beginning sums up his attitude when he was the Countdown presenter too, he always seemed as if he didn't want to be there.

Used to love BGMT but around the time Catchphrase launched it became more about Mulhern than BGT and I find it an excruciating watch now.

Bake Off: Extra Slice almost works independently of Bake Off. And for me Xtra Factor failed when it became more about Z-listers opinions and less about the contestants themselves. It was at it's best in the early years when it aired on Friday nights as a preview to the live show.
