Ashley Banjo confirmed as the replacement

Could get quite drunk on a drinking game based on mentions of the word ‘Diversity’ during the shows then!

There's a website dedicated to news about Simon Cowell?!

At least we're not a site dedicated just to Martin Lambie-Nairn…

A quick announcement then - Syco usually like to let the press speculate for as long as possible then announce a new judge the day before filming. It's almost as if Simon didn't want a week or two of the press and public naming people who might be better at his job than he is.

For The Voice Kids final tonight, which was recorded with a virtual audience and will be shown next Saturday, the winner was not revealed to the virtual audience, which means no major spoilers - a very smart decision.

When are they airing the final (and semi-final?) of the main show - you'd think it would make sense to air that off the back of the kids series, but it sounds like they're going straight to BGT.

Probably from 24th-31st October, as the sacrifice to Strictly.

It seems Britain’s Got Talent is still going to have a public vote, despite being pre-recorded:

Quote:
This year’s BGT semi-finals will be very different, the inevitable result of Covid-19 and social distancing restrictions. The semi-finals, which had been due to be held in May, will now take place over five, nail-biting – and pre-recorded - episodes. The Final will then take place live in October.

As usual, Ant and Dec will host the semi-finals whilst Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams will join Ashley at the judges’ desk. Eight contestants will perform in each semi-final and the judges will choose one act to go through. The second finalist will then be chosen via public vote when the episode airs.

With safety concerns paramount, some acts will take part remotely via video link whilst others will perform in the TV studio – though without a live audience. Instead, all acts will be watched by a virtual audience – with their performances live streamed into homes across the UK and the virtual audiences’ reactions then beamed into the studio on a giant screen.

The series will then culminate with the live final, in October, where one act will triumph as Britain’s Got Talent 2020 Champion and win the life-changing £250,000 prize plus that coveted role on The Royal Variety Performance.

I imagine that they’ve got to pre record for to ensure that there are no issues with the performances that are to be done remotely and to change over between acts who are there. I imagine they could reveal the winners of each public vote on social media, with an on screen caption or even at the start of the live final (though that sounds like a lot of non disclosure forms to be completed).

Glad they'll still be some public involvement. IIRC Stars in their Eyes used to do something similar with a studio winner then the public voting for a runner up.

I wonder if the celebrity editions will air in primetime?

Is it too much to hope they tone down the ITV2-ness?

By all accounts, it's the same programme. I'm surprised its not stripped across Saturday evenings.

Fiz from Corrie isn't a patch on the late Bobby Bragg either!
